Great job! Now you have a YouTube view AND comment! š Basically, I said that I thought it was great, very melodic, and it reminded me of Steve Lukather’s solo from a song called “I Won’t Hold You Back” from Toto IV LP. (Luke’s one of my favorites too!) š

Hey Bill (great name btw š ) thanks for the view and the comment š yea its one of my favourite DT solos:) have to agree with you about Luke he is a fantastic musician definitely up there with my faves:) again thanks for the comment š
Bill, awesome take on that solo man. š Such a captivating melody in that song. While I didn’t like Systematic Chaos much, I really liked some of the “Petrucci melodies” they have on that album. John is simply awesome at writing soaring melodic ideas.
Anyway, great playing Bill and keep the vids coming!

Thanks Sean:) yea Systematic Chaos ain’t my fave DT album but JP has some amazing melodies in his solos for sure on it š they are recording their next album already which is exciting:D I wonder where they will take this next album?
That’s a great take of a really nice melody. I have no idea how John writes such fantastic melodies. I’ve kind of gone off some of his solos from the more recent albums compared to his earlier stuff, but his melodic writing is unquestionably brilliant and you captured it perfectly!
