Sweetness man. Definitely let us know how it goes! I’m sure it’ll be a night to remember.
im jealous!
Wow…seeing that guy up close will be awesome…good for you, man…:)
I am jealous! I am going to Rage Against The Machine that same night in London. I am also at Download Festival in Derby the same night as he is playing Glasgow where I stay! I think I am just not meant to see Allan Holdsworth π
Andydoh! the gig is actually the 5th of June-Saturday…
Hi,
I’m seeing Allan next week at Band on the Wall in Manchester – stunning venue with great sound, so looking forward to hearing Allan & his band there !!!
guys the gig was frickin’ amazing!! Holdsworth with Gary Husband on drums and Jimmy Johnson on bass. They played quite a few classics like Fred, Devil Take The Hindmost, Water On The Brain, Proto Cosmos etc. I was fortunate to have the “best seat in the house”…8 feet away from The Man himself (1st person from the stage!!). He was playing a black headless Steinberger (looked like the classic L series) with 2humbuckers(exposed pole pieces). He had 2 Hughes&Kettner combos (mic’d by Neumann U87s I think). And I think he was using the Yamaha Magic Stomp to cycle thru patches. I saw Brett Garsed live in ’07, Scott Henderson last year but I must say…this guy is truly The Master. It was total improvisation…including drum parts!! Husband actually beats the crap out of the drums and Holdsworth seems to be a really laid back humble guy. They seemed to be completely enjoying playing together….awesome!
Sweet man! Sounds like it was an awesome gig. We want video! π
I’m jealous! I saw Holdsworth live in -99 here in UmeΓ₯, Sweden, was a life-time experience!
I SO wish he would come back to play the Jazz festival here!
Well ,well at least I’ve heard Scofield is returning again this year (and hopefully Wayne Shorter).and talking about his guitars, have you seen marvelous Strandberg Guitars?
For anyone drooling over the old REH Holdsworth guitar, this is the modern way to go =)
I will get one some day, that’s on my wish list of “cool” gear to get .P
hehe, even the bridges are out of this world π Just found out my Japanese pedal-endorser is buying one
