I just finished my transcription of Allan Holdsworths Solo over the Song “On the Frozen Lake” from the great fusion album “Heavy Machinery” by Jens and Anders Johansson. So i just felt i had to give it a try, its still fresh and the performance has some edges but i like it so far. Besides Allans extraterrestrian phrasing and sense of rhythm, he has a unique and subtle tone, which i tried to copy as good as i could (in a sudden outbreak of blasphemy). Beautiful music, learned a lot…hope you like it too!

    greetings, rob

great stuff man! Heavy Machinery is oen of my fave album of all time!
Like it how you opted for alternative fingerings and even tapping for this solo,
makes those of us without Allan-huge hands and reach realize there’s a chance of playing this stuff šŸ˜‰

thanks, man! I think Allan experimented with tapping in his earlier days so i hope i am not that far out? I tried to stay with fingerings which seemed to be “Allan like” to me, as far as i can tell from seeing him live and watching his videos. Some fingerings really have some inherent “fretboard logic” and felt good so i sticked with them. I would really enjoy some suggestions on more “holdsworthian” fingerings?
