Hey Folks! š
I’m 99% sure that I’m going to install an All-Parts Tremol-No onto my Ibanez RG1570. I know that Lyle Watt mentioned using one recently, so I guess my questions are these:
1. How painless/easy was the installation?
2. How do you like the Tremol-No’s performance?
3. Do you notice an improvement in sustain, as some have claimed?
I would be psyched if Lyle and/or anyone else chimes-in on these questions! š
Also, I’m contemplating changing my RG1570’s bridge-pickup. Any recommendations? I’m looking for something that has LOTS of sustain and midrange (for leads), but dynamic enough to “clean-up” when rolling the volume knob back!
Thanks guys! š

You ever get your Tremol-no, Bill?

Lyle,
I haven’t gotten my Tremol-No yet! Christmas left me short on funds, but I’m definitely getting one soon (next few weeks.) I’ll keep you posted mate!

Hey Richard. I just bought a JS1000, and was looking at getting a Tremol-no for it. I had a look at the website, and I figured out what your problem was. You had the wrong type of Tremol-no! The JS1000 has an Edge Pro trem, which needs the small clamp type tremol-no, not the pin.
Depends on the year that the JS1000 was made, mine has a Lo Pro Edge.

Hey Guys, š
Hello me, it’s Mee again!:eek::p
So I’ve (sort of) recovered from the X-mas financial blues, (BTW, that would be of the slow, minor blues variety, in the key of C-minor…Think Zep’s “Since I’ve Been Lovin’ You!”…I digress!!! :D) and as a result, I scraped together enough bank for a brand new (I wouldn’t want to risk suffering Richard’s “Tremol-Not-In-Tune” fate!!! – LOL!) Small-Clamp Tremol-No and (3) extra Thumb-Wheel Screws! It’s supposed to arrive Friday or Saturday, and I’ll surely install it the minute it shows!!! š
I’ll post a written review on this thread as soon as I form an opinion! š
Until then, No “Joe Walsh (oblique/faux-pedal-steel) licks” for Mee-doggy-dog! (LOL!) š
happy picking! š

ah, ok then. Nevermind lol
Hey Lyle, š
I forgot to mention that I’m definitely taking your advice on a bridge pickup fro my RG1570 (I had my boss put aside a Duncan Screamin’ Demon for me until Saturday!) š
BTW Lyle, have you ever heard of the Duncan Alnico II – PRO Humbucker model pickup? My boss (well technically, I’m self-employed, but he owns the music-store where I teach most of my lessons, so I’ll put it that way!) said that he thought an Alnico-II PRO would be a nice match for my neeeds (I guess Slash uses them in his Les Pauls, but an RG1570 and a Les Paul are NOT very compatible tone-machines! (LOL!) I thought the Screamin’ Demon would be good since George Lynch probably recommended it be voiced with a Floyd Rose bridge in mind. See what I mean?
Anyone have any thoughts on the Alnico-II PRO??? Just curious!
Thanks for your time/opinions!!! š

The Alnico-II PRO is a lower output pickup desinged for the blues/classic rock thing. I’ve played a few guitars with the pickup in, and I like it as a neck pickup, but it’s a little bit underpowered for me. I prefer higher output pickups, like the Dimarzio Fred or the Screamin’ Demon
The Screamin’ Demon is a really nice pickup, but I find that is even better with a 250k volume pot, as it tames some of the highs, however my ESP has a maple cap, so it is naturally brighter. It’s all dependent on the guitar really.

Hey Lyle, š
Thanks for your advice on the pickups and the 250K pot trick! I’ll keep that in mind! š
Well, I finally got my Tremol-No and installed it on Friday. Last night (Saturday) I did my first “cover-rock” gig with it, and I LOVED IT!!! It does seem like when you switch from “hardtail-mode” to “full-floating-mode” there’s a little bit of a necessary fine-tuning adjustment, but nothing that I would consider prohibitive. In “hardtail-mode” I was able to “once-again” bust out my “oblique pentatonic-licks!” (Ya know, those licks where you hold a bend on (say) the G-3 string while playing a stationary note on the adjacent B-2 string! I sometimes I nickname these licks Joe Walsh-Licks because of Joe’s incessant affinity for such licks!!!) IT’S ALL GOOD! š š
The only mode that I haven’t embraced yet is the “Deep-C – downtrem-only mode.” I’m still tinkering a bit, but as of now I hear a little “Clang” noise at the return of the trem-block to the zero-point. (Which sort of makes sense, based on the design!) The one saving grace of this mode is that if you break a string, the others will NOT go NORTH (Sharp! – LOL!) That little “bump” noise (caused by the “Deep-C” clamp running into the “Receiver” at the “return-to-zero” point) might be worth the peace-of-mind associated with being able to break a string “mid-song” and NOT go way outta-tune! š However, this mode DOES NOT address the adjacent-string De-Tuning whilst bending another string (Joe Walsh Licks!) Oh well! You can’t have it ALL, right?!? (LOL!)
All things considered, I’ll rate this product a 9 out of 10 OVERALL!!! Excellent Floyd-Rose Solution!!! š š
Coming NEXT WEEK: My review of the Seymour Duncan Screamin’ Demon Bridge Pickup (installed in my Ibanez RG1570 – The same axe that NOW has the Tremol-No in it! Sweet customizations, don’tcha all think?!? (LOL!) š
Until then!
Pickin’ & Grinnin’!!! š

If you want Bill, I’ll ask Kevan (the guy who made the Tremol-no) about the Clanging thing – I don’t think it should do that – then again, it does seem to work differently in different guitars. I think I’m gonna get one for my new guitar too……….

Hey Lyle, š
Thanks for your input and for offering to ask Kevin Geier about that “clang!” Actually, I might’ve had it adjusted such that the “Deep-C” clamp was ever-so-slightly too close to the trem-block. This would’ve caused the “Deep-C” to “run-into” the receiver-clamp as I let go of the bar. In fact, the more abruptly I released the bar (like the Brad Gillis/Steve Vai Bar-Flutter Trick!!!) the more I heard that noise. When I eased off the bar (say playing “melody-swoops”) I didn’t hear it. See what I mean?!?
Anyways, so it sounds like you know Kevin Geier, huh?!? That’s cool. I heard he’s a nice/approachable guy! My friend Rob Keeler (who is listed on the Tremol-No Artist Endorsement page of their website & also is thanked personally by Kevin in the outro credits of Kevin’s YouTube Tremol-No Installation Video – which I used!!!) knows Kevin VERY well as Rob served Kevin as one of his primary Beta-Testers during the product’s infancy/development. In fact, I saw a prototype of the FIRST Tremol-No (pre-All-Parts distribution!) several years ago when Rob Keeler showed it to me one day at work (we used to teach in adjacent rooms several years ago!) Rob’s a super-nice guy and an excellent musician! š Oh yeah, BTW, Rob is the President/Owner/Designer of some EXCELLENT guitar-effect pedals! Particularly, he makes a really nice overdrive/booster – distortion pedal (dual-function.) The pedals bear his last name (Keeler) the OD/Dist-pedal I tried was AWESOME! (I think it was purple, but he might’ve changed the packaging/chassis since then…) The OD part reminded me of Fulltone’s OCD pedal (sweet!) and the other channel (distortion) obviously had a lot more gain! (like the VOX- Satchurator!) If you’re interested, Google: Rob Keeler pedals š
I think if I “back-off” the Deep-C from the zero-oint, it won’t “clang” like it did Saturday, (at least that’s what I think?!?) You can mention it to Kevin if you don’t mind verifying my concerns about how I adjusted/configured it though?!? I’d appreciate that Lyle! Myabe KG has some advice/insight??? š
Also, I’m gonna be installing that Seymour Duncan Screamin’ Demon (per your recommendation and my own research!) into the Bridge-Position of my Ibanez RG1570, (maybe later today! Yeah-Hoo!!) so keep an eye out for my review!!! š
TTYS! š

I don’t really know Kevan, but I’ve spoken to him a few times about the tremol-no in my JS100. I’ve got his email here, so I’ll send him an email for ya.
Lyle
Edit: One email sent! š

Hey Lyle, š
Thanks again! That’d be cool if you got him that message. I think he’d pay a bit more attention to a “budding young-star” like you, rather than a “tired old-warhorse” like me!!! (LOL!) :D:o;)
Out of curiosity, have you ever heard of my buddy Rob Keeler’s pedals? (BTW, NOT to be confused with Keeley pedals! He gets that a lot, although that’s probably good for an unknown commodity like his!) Like I said, His OD/Dist. pedal is worth checking out. I think it’s GREAT! If you do end up checking it out, and you have any direct questions for Rob, I can set you up with his contact information (e-mail.) Just let me know if you end up interested and/or needing that! OK? š
~Bill Meehan~ š
Now how’s this for a quick reply!
Kevan wrote:Hey Lyle!
Tell your friend to stop letting go of his trem arm when he’s fully dived. š He’s going to break something.Kidding aside, I’ve had this happen to me as well.
Quick EASY (and cheap) fix is to put a piece or two of electrical tape over the contact face of the Deep-C.
Trim away the excess with a razor blade.Electrical tape is thin enough it won’t affect performance, but ‘rubbery’ enough to stop that ‘ka-klang’ when the Receiver touches the Deep-C.
Let me know how it works out.
Have fun!
Do what the man says lol!
I haven’t heard of Keeler pedals, although I have heard of Keeley! I’ll have to check them out.
