Has anybody tried axe fx ultra? Been playing tubes all my life, concerned with dynamics and touch response.

Hi Ronnie,
I have not personally played through or with the Axe FX Ultra, but I have read alot of stuff on it, as you may have. From what I read, the strength of this unit is it’s ability to replicate the tube amplifier tones, picking dynamics, touch response, and individual characteristics of a particular tube amp that make it that amp.
From the endorsements I have read by top players like Greg Howe, this thing seems to be able to pull off what no other unit has been able to do. And that is, sound so much like any number of popular tube amps, that it is uncanny.
If it weren’t for the fact that I have already put down 2800 dollars for a Mark 5 and Roadster cabinet, I would be looking hard at this box.Frank
I own it, and i can tell you it rox!!!
Bought it in the states about 7 months ago and im never going back to bulky and heavy amps!
I use it at home only, the direct recording is just perfect for my studio setup!
Go to fractalaudio.com and check out samhills demo videos, you will be blown away!
Also you can check the forum there, everything u need to know is right there!BTW, like i said i´ve owned this beast for 7 months, and i still havent fully discovered it´s full potential! No matter what kind of tones u want, it produces them!
So if u have the money, BUY BUY BUY, u wont regret it… AND if u would regret it, ppl are screaming for the axe´s,so the used market is really good if ur a seller, if u are looking into buying a used one my advice is DONT. The price is almost as a new unit, and u probably wont find one… They usually sell within the same day as they are posted 🙂
Thanks man, trying to get one now. Even if I don’t like it live, it will work awesome in my lesson studio, for recording, and for clinics at my store. Thanks for everyones advice. Ronnie
Hi
a friend of mine got the ultra and uses it live now and his amps are at home …and he´s a really gearhead!
he has the Bogner Extacy
Diezel Einstein
Blackcat combo and they are all at home now!!!!i did try it live and at home and you have to put quite a bit of time to explore it !
but the leadsounds were the best i´ve ever played …very impressive
well i wasn´t pleased with the clean sounds and the rhythm/crunch sound did ok!
but that´s because i just played his sound … i should have taken the time and alter them to my needs ..i didn´t buy one at the moment ´cause i´m the “plug and Play” kind of player:
but if you take the time i think it´s really powerfull tool – and talking about recording it might not get any better….hope that helps
cheers

RonnieYes, yes, yes yes! I currently own an Elmwood Modena 60, 78′ MK II Plexi and a Diezel Einstein and the Axe Fx just put them all to rest and out of action.
I’m not even using a power amp..I’m using Mackie MR5s and it’s amazing, the Diezel patch floored me. I’ve been using just the “Cranked Plexi” and “Cliffs Of Dover” patches 😀 It’s been there since I bought it.
Dynamics and sensitivity? There’s about 100 different settings in it to tweak anything you want. More tube feel and even feedback..it’s all there. Warning, you HAVE to read and learn how to tweak it though.
All I can say is just get it.

http://www.myspace.com/petergreierBro, the clean sounds on it are incredible. You get fender, roland or cool classic, dirty cleans. You just have to mess with it and learn it.
do you also sell the Elmwood?

NO! I don’t sell my instruments or amps.
that´s wise

😉I sold a pistol once and regret doing so for years so now I don’t sell anything specially boutique and custom made things. I’d probably regret selling the Modena 10min after doing so. 😀
