The place is so amazing, loots of cool people from everywhere with all kinds of instruments and different approaches and thoughts about music, its an amazing place! The faculty is really nice and make you feel comfortable about the place!

Just wanted to share this with you guys, šŸ™‚

I know.. its ridiculously insane… It hurts myself everytime i think of the money that its needed šŸ™

Yeah my parents are cool with it if I get accepted, but they cant afford it, and thats why they (and me) are hoping that i get at least a small scholarship and then apply for financial aid.

I thought I remembered somebody telling me that its required that you have had professional music lessons, heh, oh well, I’ll keep practising for 4 more years and apply when the time comes šŸ™‚

yeah man, that is a good idea, 4 years is plenty of time to become really good. šŸ™‚ Good luck šŸ™‚

I’m curious about something. What did they make you read when it came time for the sight-reading portion of the audition?

There were like 6 sight reading exersises in total.

The first one was just notes, varying in length, then the exersises had titles like “Latin Swing”, etc, and were more complex, and included Key Signatures and 16th notes, etc.

Nonetheless, each exersise was only like 10 bars (if i remember correctly, probably less).

Also there were some which had chord names on top of the bars, i assumed those were arpeggios, but i couldnt play them anyway. I had no idea at all how each exersise sounded… šŸ™

    I have a cousin that’s a berklee grad who’s a trumpet player – http://www.myspace.com/shobeemusic

He was going to go into producing but ended up liking performance too much 2 years after graduating, so now he mostly just plays and find what ever money he can to help supliment rent in new york.

If I somehow save enough money I hope to be able to attend GIT someday.

Last I taked to him he seemed to be doing well. They’re about to come out with their second CD (his band “Wu Li Masters” and he always says he’ll never regret turning his back on producing and moving into performance.

He has several places that host his band often, and hopefully once the new CD gets out they’ll maybe have the money to travel a bit.
