My brother in law and sister live in Washington state. They were here for 4 days (Vancouver, BC) and just a few hours ago, they got a phone from a neighbor that they noticed that their front door is open. So they went home a few days early to get to the house and investigate everything. He has about $60,000 worth of instruments and recording equipment. All of it is insured and most of is in storage. But there is still lots of good stuff in the house. They just called a few minutes ago and said that somebody entered the house through the back window. So far, 2 laptops are missing. He will be having a good look in the basement to see what is missing. Keeping fingers crossed that nothing else got taken. My sister is a doctor (completing her residency)and her laptop has lots of research and papers which are probably pretty important.
Bad day š š
I’m thinking it was a neighbor who probably did it as they would be the only ones to notice them packing up the car and leaving.

Dang that is horrible. š I hope the cops are able to track down whoever did it. I’m glad all that equipment is insured at least. Did they take any laptops to Vancouver so at least some of their computer stuff was saved?
Hope it all gets worked out!
They called this morning. There was lots of blood where he/they broke through. They cut themselves with glass I guess. They did take all the jewelry from the bedroom including a ring from her grandmother and a diamond ring among other gold jewelry. They also snatched one guitar but it wasn’t a very expensive one. The guitars they didn’t touch (5 of them) are worth about $7K. The one they took was about $90. (Lucky for my brother in law). My bro-in-law does have a Mac in the basement for recording purposes but that went untouched.
It was definitely a one man job because they left the Nintendo Wii in place and video cam. They don’t really care for any of the physical items that were taken but want one laptop back because all of their daughters pictures are on it. My niece is 3 years old now and her whole life’s worth of pictures are on the laptop from surgery of her birth to her 3rd birthday.

Hello,
Tell them to call every local pawn-shop (especially if they have serial-numbers/proof-of-purchase!)
I wish them luck…;)

Great advice from Bill there regarding the pawn shops. Let us know if they catch the bad guy(s)! I hope your bro and sister are able to recover as much as possible.
