Gotta share this footage from the film with you guys. Bruce Lee is one of my biggest heroes of all and I spent most of my childhood and early adult years watching his films. They were all, of course, censored by the powers that be, who SUCK, but have been re-released uncensored(they have been for some time now tho).
I cannot believe what he manages to capture on film and for me he was a man who managed to reach the pinnacle of true artistry
Here are a couple of clips:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYUrSS5Q7jQ

Bruce Lee was tight.
What was censored exactly? Was it just certain content within the films that was censored or were the films censored from public release?

Rick, š
Absolutely amazing, and I agree wholeheartedly with your take on his achievements! š® š š

Great clips man!
BUT, here’s the REAL kicker for you then =)
Not many Lee fans even know that the movie Game of Death was never finished,
sure they know that Bruce had the project on ice while going into Enter the Dragon,
and that after he died the movie was finished with a (very poor) stand-in.
However, few people are aware that about 40 minutes of footage was lost before launching
that movie, and the whole plot re-written completely. This is the lost footage, in 4 parts ( I have the actual DVD as well). Enjoy!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=id1L-nFVlaoFOr thosde interested , like you Rick, I recommend you pick up the movie,
it’s also a great documentary about Bruce!
It’s called “A warrior’s Journey”, and was released in 2000.
http://www.amazon.com/Bruce-Lee-Warriors-Sun-Man-Bae/dp/B00005UF83I might add that Bruce saw this film as being sort of a testament and instructional about hsi views on martial arts.THis is quite apparent in the way he lectures his opponents š
Hey Richard, š
I think that you need to be more passionate and informed about Bruce Lee! You clearly aren’t interested, are you?!? š (LOL!) Of course I’m kidding! I love that you and Rick are so into Bruce Lee! I have a good friend who is a huge fan (not surprisingly, he studied martial arts at a pretty high level too!) so I knowa little about the man, and he was amazing!!! š® š
In fact, maybe there is a pattern here…Rick and Richard are into Bruce Lee, and they are both killer musicians…hmmmm?!?!? Well actually, it probably just speaks to their respective passion for excellence and discipline, and that carries across all studies (be them music, martial arts, or even golf! (I knew I could reference Tiger Woods in here somehow?!? (LOL!) š

I used to love watching his films and loads of documentaries. I even took up Wing Chun, but I never stuck with it as i got into bands and guitars a lot by then.
I’ve still got a mean 1-inch punch though š

Mandz, š
“Everybody Wing Chun tonight!” :D:p;)
I’ll bet that’s “one-angry-inch!” :cool::D;)
LOL!
I gotta get that documentary that Richard referred to, and get a copy for my buddy (the huge Bruce Lee fan that I spoke of.) as a gift! I LOVE documentaries about interesting people and/or topics! š

Thanks for that Richard, I ended up getting the DVD and there is some very interesting stuff on there for sure. I bought the re-release of enter the dragon when it came out and there was tons of bonus stuff on there which was basically a rehash of what is on the DVD.
I’m always keen on new stuff of Mr Lee tho.
Then again who needs Mr Lee when you can have Mr Larusso:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8fua0g13djo&feature=channel_page
There are so many talented martial artists out there who never make it to the big screen.
Some of them probably live in a city near you!
If you get a chance, sit down and watch some Jackie Chan films. His fight choreography is simply brilliant. Comedic yes, but also brilliant.
Here are some (SOME!!) samples.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=onV520uBO5E&feature=relatedWith the amazing Benny “The Jet” Urquidez:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HVsigkUmvy8&feature=relatedJackie with Brad Alan, member of his stunt team. Brad is truly an artist.
From 3:29 to about 3:40 there is a great barrage of kicks that are simply beautiful.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAByieNMWUY&feature=relatedThats all for now.
I’ve always loved Jackie Chan, the choreography and stunts are insane. Very different kinda thing to what Bruce Lee did but I’m a huge fan of both of them. Thanks for the clips man!!
Right on Rick,
Jackie and Bruce are two completely different styles and both are amazing artists.
Like musicians who have the same pallet of notes with which to express themselves, but create vastly different music, Jackie and Bruce have the same pallet of tools (hands, feet etc..) and create completely different styles of art. Its amazing.
