Picked it up this weekend (360) finally and couldn’t put it down. After binge playing I ended up making it to lvl 37 after lots and lots of playing. (lots and lots).
Any other COD4 players?

GOW quickly went to super nerd territory as well, esp with glitchers. Sprinting and shotgunning eh?
I didn’t like GOW because it was a sprint for the weapons on the map as soon as you spawn, at least with COD4, you’ve got your load outs and you can adapt to the situation and it’s a battle for strategic positions.
Don’t get me wrong, GOW single player is brilliant, some of the best character writing (the overall story is weak) in a LONG time. I thought GOW online community was as bad as any of the Halo communities, and sad to say that the COD4 community is right on par with all of them. Your gripes about COD4 are legitimate, but using GOW as a counterpoint hardly furthers your point IMO, as I thought that GOW multiplayer was miserable at best :(. Lost Planet or Team Fortress 2 have the best shooter communities I’ve encountered to date on 360 (esp. Lost Planet).
And here’s a quick tip for everybody. pull the right trigger when you see someone at close range in a “twitch” situation. Then press the left trigger as you’re firing and your aim will “snap” to the center of the target. Or use an RPD w/ Stopping Power and Steady Aim perks. 2 hits center mass will drop someone.
I wasn’t referring to the online communites really. I was mainly refering to the actual mechanics of the game.
…and the mechanics of GOW did not lend themselves well to multiplayer. The cover system is worthless as it is still possible to headshot someone who is taking cover. Nobody uses the the cover. People abuse the sprint and shotgun and formerly absured the grenade tag/pistol beat down. The single player mechanics of GOW are fantastic, lots of fun. MP lacks on GOW excepting the co-op campaign, which was incredible.
At least COD is played pretty much the same on single player or multi player. All that said I can’t wait for Gears of War 2 š
cod have some other issues on MP
the functions for mortydom or grenade laucher are preatty stupid..
they just make the game less entertaining.. GL is pure killing.. slauthering even… and mortydom…
you can’t control it… the Last stand function is fine for the matter..
although it sucks killing someone and then finding out he killed you with last stand…
at least you don’t have to wait between rounds or something (at least at Team Deathmatch)@Goliath 2620 wrote:

Again, that’s mainly due to the online community. I’m talking about the game. To play the game. Not that people are sad enough to get so good at a game it isn’t actually fun to play against them (it becomes more of a sport)

I know what you mean maate. The fast action game is quite fun online or with friends. But to me, a decent FPS isn’t just about being quick. I feel like COD is more like a competition of who has the fastest reactions and who can press a button quickest, whereas other format shooters seem to have much more to them, and actually relate more to where/when they are set. It just seems to me that you could take COD4, put any other time/place/situation ‘skin’ on it, and it’d be the same. For me, (sorry to refer to it again but) GoW is so much more. It just seems that COD got raped when it went into the “Super nerd” territory, where everyone who played it online was so good at it it was like they were playing just to be good, not because they liked the game (I’m talking more of the COD1/2 era)
Sorry about the rant, I’m slightly drunk and really don’t like COD4 :p
I was actually part of that in COD 1/2… My clan was in CAL and TWL and we did well in both.. A couple of years ago, i tore my ACL/MCL and developed blood clots in my leg so they couldnt operate on it for 6 months.. I had to sit home for 11 months before i could go back to work.. Thats all i did was play cod 1 and cod 2… Me and my clanmates would sit up for hours in scrims and matches everynight… That was alot of fun, thinking back now i wish i had used that time to play guitar… But it was actually like a sport, owning people all the time and talking smack when i was doing it…
heres my old clans website…
