So on friday, I had my final performance at school, with the MATC Honors Ensemble, and my aunt got it all on video, so if you want to see some of my playing, check this out.

This first video is something that I am very very proud of. It is the song “He Lives In You” from The Lion King 2. I’m sure at one time here I might have mentioned it. But everything you hear in there, minus the sax, was arranged by me, and this includes: Guitar, Drums, Bass, Percussion, Keyboards, Piano, Choir+ Lead Voice. The sound quality isn’t as good as I would have liked, especially my guitar, which at the end is really low in the mix so you couldn’t really hear the solo I did at the end, but it is still one of my best achievements.
Took me almost 2 months of arranging and transcribing to get everything the way I liked.

This second one is of us playing the Dizzie Gillespie song Bebop. Once again, my guitar somehow is low in the mix but you should be able to hear it. I really think I could have done a better improvisation, but oh well. I’m still happy with it.

(Should be kinda easy to see which one I am ;))

Nice playing man, I think your bebop solo was really good – keep it up!

Nice work on that Large Ensemble arrangement. Did you pick the tune or was it something they asked you to do?

Congrats on Bebop aswell. I know only too well how hard it is to get through those changes at such a brisk tempo! Recently I got caught out counting in a tune faster than I meant to and was allomst consumed by the flurry of chords šŸ˜‰

    Great arrangements. Loved bebop.

Did anyone else get the urge to get up and start swing dancing around the office?

thanks Mike. šŸ™‚ It was a tune that I wanted to do. It was odd because I mentioned that I was gonna transcribe and arrange the song for the honors ensemble, and I said that there would be some voice parts in it, and the choir/voice teacher asked if I would write up a part for the choir as well. It took me almost 2 months of transcribing and arranging to get it to where I wanted it, but I must say it turned out great.

If you ever have the opportunity. Get into a studio with it. I would love to hear a polished recording.

Maybe you have music industry students at uni looking for a recording project? Usually those type ‘free recording’ opportunities pop up around campus, if you nose around

Right on Robert. I loved both of them! Great playing and awesome arrangement on the Lion King tune. I second Mike in saying you should try to get that recorded. šŸ™‚

Actually, a few of the recording students got the show recorded properly (somewhat), but I have yet to listen to it. Tom said that Chuck’s mike wasn’t armed to record so the lead vocals weren’t on the track but the music was. Unfortunatly, he didn’t put it on the cd, and I don’t think that they are willing to do it again, so this is probably the only time that we are gonna get to hear it.

But he did have Bebop recorded as well as the other 3 tunes we did that day which were: Caravan, Senor Blues, The Love Below/Love Hater.
