Alright, so you’re trapped on an island and happen to have a cd player with unlimited magic battery life and a bazillion watt amp. A helicopter flies by and instead of rescuing you, they say they can give you any cd you want in the entire world. What cd would you choose in such a realistic emergency!?
My choice: As I Lay Dying – An Ocean Between Us

Rhapsody Of Fire – Triumph Or Agony
Opeth – Still Life.
no question about it.
Dream Theater- Six Degrees of Inner Turbulance.
Ah I totally forgot about Six Degrees! Yeah I’d have to change my answer to that too. That cd caters to so many cool styles. Plus with the 2nd cd you get double the music!
Finally! Someone who actually likes that album besides me! haha
Yeah I don’t know what people have against Six Degrees. It does seem like a lot of people don’t like it much. In my opinion, it’s one of their best and most epic efforts. Probably my favorite cd of theirs actually.
Agreed wholeheartedly.
I think that album alone really shows them as master musicians, especially Jordan Rudess, because he basically wrote Overture himself. But hey, he was a Juliard Student at 9 years old so I wouldn’t expect anything less from him. 😉

Allan Holdsworth – Hard Hat Area
I’d have to go for: Mozart – Requiem
Errrr or maybe: Stevie Wonder – Innervisions@Rick Graham 580 wrote:

YES! Mozart – Requiem FTW.
I knew there was someone else besides me and my friend who appreciates it.

Haha……I must’ve listened to it thousands of times and it always gets better for me. I would probably put
Glenn Gould’s early recording of Bach’s Goldberg variations on the same level too.
Damn, there is no 1 cd after all………..A recording of some morse code, namely, SOS.
Nah, probably BTBAM’s Colors.

haha good idea with the SOS. As far as BTBAM, I haven’t been able to stop listening to Colors, just an amazing album. Gets better with every listen!
It’s also got a sound for every occasion. Although sometimes it annoys me that they couldn’t just make different songs out of them. I mean, sure, great stuff that you can transition into all these styles, but sometimes I want a song that is *insert adjective here*, not a million things in one go. Prime example is the clean middle part and the proceeding few minutes in Ants Of The Sky. I love that part, but I think maybe it might’ve been better to make more of it instead of it a being a small section in a massive song.
I’m moaing about this mainly because I’ll be there listening to Ants… waiting for that bit to come on. And I’m impatient like that.
At the moment, I’d have to say my favorite CD is Steely Dan’s ‘The Royal Scam’.
or maybe ‘Sex Machine: The Very Best Of James Brown’ haha.
