I consider this a game, because it’s something I do constantly and it drives people around me nuts because I’m always raving about a new amp every week.
Rules:
1) Prices must be retail prices that can actually be found.
Suggested retail and used prices aren’t relevant to most people around the world. I can find a genuine gibson LP second hand for well under $400, doesn’t mean others could.
2) Only one pick per price range.
What would you REALLY buy for that price? This isn’t about the amps you LIKE in a price range.
3) This is for amps only.
Don’t count cabinets and other add ons like attenuators into your price.
Here’s the price ranges I was thinking we’d start with:
$500 & under
$1000 & under
$2000 & under
$2000 and over
I’ll go first
$500 – Peavey Windsor
$1000 – Carvin V3
$2000 – Orange Rockerverb 50 (would pick the 100, but it’s $200 out of range)
$2000+ – Diezel VH4
