    Hey all,

Just wondering what everyone’s favorite guitar solo is. Doesn’t have to be
rock, could be any style of music.

Mine is Buckethead’s solo on Nottingham Lace.

    Thanks.

lol. Yes guys, keep it at one. Remember, you have the freedom to change your mind. 😀

Eddie Van Halen – Beat It (Has to the best solo ever)

    Rohan, 🙂

Since picking ONE is impossible, (for most people) it’s probably more efficient to log-on to this thread ONCE with a list of several candidates, rather than picking one and then changing our minds’ TEN TIMES!!! (LOL!) 😉

haha well if I had to pick one…

    Hey Jack, 🙂

No wonder your such a BMF on guitar!!! (LOL!) 😎 You are what you eat, and you have a healthy diet of ridiculously AWESOME guitarists that you listen to/like! BTW, You might end up on my list some day (maybe soon…) if you keep busting your ass and working as hard as you have! 😉

    See ya around! 😎

    ~Bill Meehan~ 😀

Ahhh that’s praise indeed Bill!! Thankyou! hahaha.
I’m trying so hard now to step away from the Daniele stuff! (It’s like heroin, it’s that addictive :P)
To go off topic, i think it’d be amazing if there was a way of fusing Daniele, with the likes of Tom, Rick and Marco Sfogli with a touch of Guthrie! Something to work for!!!

But yes my number 1. solo at the minute for me has to be either Daniele’s Guitar Sbrego, or Marco’s Memories simply because they’re beautiful. The girlfriend has me obsessed with Marco’s playing 😀

    Hey Jack,

BTW, That’s one COOL GIRLFRIEND who digs Marco Sfgoli! That’s so cool! Hang on to her!!! (LOL!)

Also, I like how you’re already recognizing the need to be influenced by several different awesome musicians (notice I said musicians and not guitarists! You’ll eventually start being influenced by some NON-guitarist-musicians too! (Dennis Chambers, John Bonham, John Paul Jones, Charlie Parker, Donald Fagen, Bela Fleck, Herbie Hancock, etc. – Those are some of my NON-guitar-influences!)

Ok, time to keep Rohan happy and choose ONLY ONE FAVORITE SOLO!: 😮

    1. Kid Charlemagne Steely Dan (Larry Carlton on guitar) 😎

I hope at least somebody likes my single pick (before I change my mind…) 😮 (LOL!)

When I opened this thread back in March (when it was still freezing here in New England) I opened it with my favorite solo being Buckethead’s solo on Nottingham Lace.
Although I still consider that solo to be superb I have since changed my mind. (Now there’s a shock.)

    Buckethead – Siege Engine
    David Gilmour – Comfortably Numb
Robert Fripp – Fracture (With King Crimson)
Ritchie Blackmore – Highway Star (Live version – Made In Japan)
Richard “Dickie” Betts – In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed
Tony Iommi – Over and Over

There. That makes 6 solos. Not 10!!!!!! :D:D:D

    So many favorite guitar solos!!
I guess these would be some of my favorites (not in any particular order)
I rate them as songs/solo’s that I could listen too over and over again for the rest of my life!

Steve Vai – Stevie’s Spanking (Frank Zappa – Them or Us album)
Yngwie J. Malmsteen – Far Beyond The Sun
    Yngwie J. Malmsteen/Alcatrazz – Hiroshima Mon-Amour
    Michael Schenker – Captain Nemo
Steve Morse – Cruise Missile/Tumeninotes (Tied) and then everything else solo and Dregs!
    Alan Holdsworth – Panic Station
Jimi Hendrix – Red House (Live at Woodstock)
    Jimi Hendrix – Voodoo Child
Jeff Beck – Where Were You

    I forgot
Michael Hedges – Because it’s There

    Hi rgbrock1,

Now there’s two that take me back! I wore out the Deep Purple Made In Japan album a long time ago. Ritchie played with tone and killer vibrato on it for sure.

The Allman Brothers Live At Fillmore East was another album I wore out.

    Thanks for the reminder. 🙂

Oh man this is a though one.
I’m gonna say the ones I can remember right now.

“Comfortably Numb” – Pink Floyd (David Gilmour)
“Sweet child of mine” – Guns n’ Roses (Slash)
“Another day” – Dream Theater (John Petrucci)
“Alone” – James Labrie (Marco Sfogli)
    “Jigsaw” – Marillion (Steve Rothery)
    and many more

I want to put some of Guthrie Govan but they’re not solos actually. One is the intro to Waves and the other is the improvisation over the larry Carlton style track.
The phrasing he has just blows me away.

edit: (can’t forget about marillion and misspell Mr Gilmour name!lol)
