Hey Rohan,
Great job! I didn’t know this song by name, but I’m familiar with a lot of the more popular Maiden stuff from LP’s like “Piece of Mind”, “Number of The Beast” and “Powerslave.” In fact, I saw the “Powerslave” tour (I think it was 1986…or ’85?!?) Anyways, they were OUTSTANDING live! I actually just recently started listening to some Maiden recently, because they are my guitar teacher’s FAVORITE band! It’s funny ‘cuz my teacher (Ethan Brosh) is a serious 80’s-style shredder who just got signed to Mike Varney’s Magna Carta label, AND recently got a gig as the guitarist for an exciting new band called Angels of Babylon featuring Megadeth’s Dave Ellifson on Bass and Man-o-War’s Rhino on Drums! Ethan might remind most people of an amalgamation of Yngwie Malmsteen, Jake E. Lee, Warren DeMartini, and Greg Howe (NOT bad, huh?!?) Ethan is also a Berklee College of Music grad and part-time Berklee instructor. Needless to say, my teacher Ethan Brosh has serious CRED! So even though Dave Murray and Adrian Smith might not be the most shredding/technically mind-blowing players, they sure have great style, write great metal songs, and Maiden as a band, are amazing! Anyways, I digress…as usual! (LOL!) SORRY!
So Rohan, you played excellent here! your sense of time and groove are excellent, and you shifted dynamics nicely (between the heavy vs. clean sections.) This is another area where I’ve always thought Maiden shined too!
Well done sir!
