Got myself a Vox Amplug Lead

Forums Guitars, Gear, Software & Education Got myself a Vox Amplug Lead

  • Post

I just bought a VOX amPlug Lead couple of days back. Its superb! Pics attached. The Lead module has a great sound and comes with a delay too.

Now I can practice guitar even more. Especially helps if you need to work on some boring exercises which I can now do while watching TV. šŸ˜€

I’m sure every guitarist needs this. Go get one!

    Hey Rohan, šŸ™‚

That’s a neat little device! šŸ˜Ž Can you shut the delay effect off, or is it built into the actual sound/model? Just curious…If I were using it for exercises, I personally would NOT want a delay on. šŸ˜‰ D’ya know what I mean? Anyways, thanks for the tip! I gotta go see how much those little bad-boys cost?!? šŸ˜Ž

    Haha,

I read that thread and today I that thing appeared in my dream šŸ˜€
In my dream I was wandering around some landscape and playing electric guitar (can’t remember what) with the Vox Amplug Lead. Then the dream went over to some hack ‘n slay game in which I was invovled and killed some evil monsters >:o
I hope the monsters didn’t come because of my guitar playing šŸ˜€

Have fun with it Rohan and it’d be cool if you could post some sound samples šŸ™‚

    Cheers

Yes, you can shut the delay off. Three modes – standby, on and delay. The delay is decent sounding, but not configurable! There’s a slight reverb to it and I guess around 200 ms of echo.

Another drawback is the sound is always dirty since its a Lead module. But its good enough for practice I guess.

It cost me Rs. 3000, thats around $65 USD. Is this a bit expensive? I think so. šŸ˜€

I’ll try posting some sound samples. I really like it!

How would you plug this into a guitar with the jack recessed into the top of the guitar body? It’s the sort of tool I’d like to use but I have an S-series Ibanez Prestige and the jack is right underneath the bridge and I don’t think it’d fit.

    Hi Mandz, šŸ™‚

    Wouldn’t this work:

    1.) Plug a 1-ft.-long 1/4″ patch-cable into the guitar-jack.
    2.) Connect a 1/4″ female-to-female cable-coupler into the 1-ft. patch-cable.
3.) Plug the Vox Amplug into the other end of the female 1/4″ cable-coupler!

    Voila! šŸ˜€

The only issue then would be that the Amplug would “dangle” from the coupler, but I suppose you could then come up with some sort of “velcro-scheme” or double-sided tape perhaps to attach it to either your strap or your pants’-belt or something, right?!? šŸ˜‰

Just an idea…After all, there’s nothing special abouit the Amplug’s 1/4″ tip, so it doesn’t have to be directly connected to the guitar itself. That’s why I suggested the extension! šŸ˜‰

I figure these accessories total about $10. – $12. (USD), and that’s assuming that you don’t already have an unused 1-ft. patch-cable kicking around already! šŸ˜‰

    Best of luck bro! šŸ˜Ž

That was my first thought, but I was hoping there would be an alternative that would be an all in one solution. The sounds from the Vox are meant to be very good (certainly better than the Heap-O-Crap Danelctro Honeytone one I’ve already got), and more portable than my MicroBR.

Maybe I’ll just stick to the MicroBR and rechargable batteries.
