    Yeah, it’s pretty self explanatory.

Either tell us if you “Greatest day of your life” or if it hasn’t happened yet, just say what you greatest day would consist of.

Luckily for me, I had my greatest day of my life on my 20th birthday last month.

Not only did I get to meet Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater that day at a signing at Casico Interstate music and got him to sign my arm and stuff, but I went and saw DT that same night, went backstage for the meet and greet (Which cost me about $600 cause my friend AJ came along, and it took me over a month to save up enough), met all of them individually, told them how much this all meant to me and shot the **** with each of them (JM almost crushed my hand his grip was so strong), they were all incredable guys and so nice to me, and watched the show from the 3rd row and got lots of kick ass pictures.
Probably the single greatest birthday I will ever have for the rest of my natural life. I had a perpetual smile on my face the rest of the week that would make the Cheshire cat **** himself with envy. 😀

Btw. Robert: i bet the greatest day of your life is ahead of you, like, hitting the stage with 20,000 people in audience, for your birthday 😀 😀 😀

Oh man. now THAT would rock. But the day that happens, I will probably crap my pants. I still get nervous playing in front of my classmates… I just can’t imagine playing in front of that many people. I’d have a heart attack! 😀

And if your still waiting for that day to come, just describe what you hope it would be like. Ya never know… it might come true. 😉

Every day is a great day for me. I cant quite think of one day that has been more spectacular in events than another. They all have special moments. Such as right now, its actually 4am so its not quite day yet. None the less, I’m sitting here listening to some Bill Evans and enjoying the moment. Thats all it takes for me to have a great day 🙂

However I went to a Scott Tinkler gig a couple weeks back and that show has been on my mind ever since, so maybe that day could be regarded as being extra special. I got in for free, the line up included Steve Magnusson, a truly spectacular local musician(guitar player). The venue was actually a tiny old church in the heart of Geelong which has been buried by the urban uprising and now hides in a small backstreet full of coffee and book shops. The church is now a bar, Ironically.

Anyway, ther was no stage, the band was just situated in the rear corner of the venue and I managed to take a seat right next to them. Scotts horn was about 2ft from my face, and considering the energy he plays with, possibly I could have sat somewhere less deafening.

The improvisation was truly transcending. The entire group, of whom normally don’t play together and likely hadn’t even rehearsed for the gig. Played with more feeling and continuity than most rehearsing bands could achieve with years of practice.

The music penetrated my inner most being and has since been buzzing away within me.

Having said that, I retract my statement. That show was definately one of the greater moments in my life. :p

My greatest day is not related to music, but is in my former life. Haha, no seriously though, it was back when I used to play football:

We had to get a draw from a match and we were behind 2-1 with 1 minute to go, and we got a corner. I was a goalkeeper when I used to play back then. I yelled out to the coach: “Can I go up on the corner?”, and he just told me to get up there as fast as possible. I did. The corner came in and came towards me. I didn’t really get high enough in the air, but I hit it anyways. It went about 2-3 metres up in the air towards the goal and on the line was a defender who tried kick the ball away, as it came towards him. Luckily he didn’t hit it and it went in. Man that was a great feeling. Scoring the most important goal of that season as a goalkeeper. I was not very old though. Maybe 13 years old.

Goalkeepers scoring goals always seems like justice to me, I mean,t hey sit at the back keeping the team alive and just get flak when it goes wrong. I think it was the brazilian keeper who used to take all their long range free kicks, and had the most goals for a goalkeeper ever.

Anyway, my ‘greatest day’ hasn’t happened, and even when it does, it’ll just be another step on my way to total world domination. So, when I do come to power, I’ll make sure to make all of you my super-ninja-guitar-assassin bodyguards, ‘kay?

The day I got married has to be my happiest! My wife is wonderful!

(edit – right the Mrs has gone to bed now so I can post the truth – joke!)

I think one of the greatest days was the Bass Day in Guildford when I got to meet one of my all-time biggest heroes – Gary Willis. I’d been listening to him for 15 years, knew his tutorial video by memory but had never seen him live. It was a clinic and I was sat about 7 feet away from him as he ripped up that 5 string fretless.

Met him afterwards and had a bit of a chat, although I probably came across as some kind of gushing stalker or something!

Amazing musician! It contrasts with one of the low points which was playing Grimsby College with the surviving members of T-Rex one rainy Saturday night a few years back to a grand audience of 4! Rock and roll!

    I have three greatest music days . . . I know I’m a glutton!
    Performing at Woodstock ’94
Being accepted for the very first Guitar Craft class with Robert Fripp (1985)
and sharing the stage with John Paul Jones on a European tour (yay Amsterdam!)
