    Hey guys! My name’s Nav. I’m a self taught guitarist and I’ve been playing for 8 years (without much progress). I’ve been stuck in a rut for so long, learning songs via tabs and not getting very far with lead playing. I’m here because I really want to take my playing to the next level. Looking forward to my journey šŸ™‚

    Welcome Nav! So what kind of songs have you learned, and what kind of music are you into?

    Hey Sean! I’m a huge metalhead, and some of my favourite bands are Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth, Iced Earth, Insomnium, Be’lakor, Omnium Gatherum (you can see i really like the traditional, thrash and melodic death metal styles šŸ™‚ )

    I’ve learned songs from all these bands, but usually just rhythm guitar. I’ve managed to learn the solos for Paranoid and Iron Man.

    Currently what I want to learn is scales across the neck, some basic music theory and developing my ear, before focusing more on technique. I just completed Chris Feener’s “Unlock The Fretboard” and I thought it was great.

    Any advice? šŸ™‚

    That is excellent man. In the same vein as Chris’ tutorial I’d also check out this study: https://www.infiniteguitar.com/guitar-lesson-study.php?studyid=18 In fact we can probably add Chris’ tutorial to that study. Good stuff!
