    Hey y’all,

Glad I finally made the choice to join Infinite Guitar! My name’s Marc and I’m a professor/guitarist/graphic designer/author.

I’m fortunate to live in Boulder, CO currently, a great place for live music (bluegrass, country, blues, etc.). Though I’ve been focusing on solo work for the last two years, I’ve been playing guitar for around 10 years and in the process been fortunate to play in a variety of groups (alt-country, blues, pop, and jazz/fusion).

I look forward to contributing to this awesome community of fellow musicians, and especially to practice harder and more effectively with the lessons by Tom and Rick (whose videos and superb playing really inspired me to take the leap of faith in signing up here).

I thought I’d also share a bit of my music:

-I was the lead guitarist in a Boulder-based pop/country group, and thought we disbanded a few years back…our page is still up with some of my electric work and on “A Snowstorm Away” some of my acoustic lead work

-Surprisingly, I also work professionally as an electronic DJ/producer. It gives me another outlet for expression, I realize it’s not everyone’s cup of tea…but in the spirit of sharing

    Hey Marc,

Pleasure to have you here man! I listened to some of both your projects. Second String had a great sound. Also loved the electronic stuff. What software do you primarily use? Anyway, really pro stuff man!

Also what do you teach as a professor?

    See you around the site,
    Sean

    Sean,

Thanks, I really appreciate the hospitality and the kind comments!

I teach English literature and creative writing at the University of Colorado at Boulder, while I finish my postgraduate degree.

As for software, I use Logic Pro 8 (haven’t moved to Logic 9…”if it ain’t broken, don’t fix it”) and Ableton Live 7/8 for DAWs, a suite of AU/VST plugins for synths, Reason 4, and BFD2 for acoustic drums. When I record guitar, I am generally mic’ing with an SM57 into an Apogee Duet.

Hey it’s great to have you here! I notice you have a Duet, how are you liking it so far?

    Rick,

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, I do have the Duet and I love it šŸ™‚

I posted my quick take on it a while back, here’s the link: https://www.infiniteguitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1253

If you ever have any questions about, just let me know…I’m always happy to answer them!

Thanks man! I actually bought one back in October last year and couldn’t be happier. An amazing bit of kit.

Very nice stuff, Marc! I really digged it.. Great playing! How do you like the Alchemist??
