    Hey everyone,

My name’s Will and i’m new here. I’ve only been on this site for a few hours, but i feel like i’ve learned loads of stuff already šŸ™‚ . I found my way here through the link on Tom Quayle’s new vid on youtube (‘sleeper’, if i’m not mistaken). I’m interested in jazz, fusion, blues, extreme metal and classical, and i’m glad to see all these styles are covered here! I’ve only been playing guitar for about 4 years now, but have 8 years experience as a trumpet player. I try to practise as much as i can, which isn’t always easy as i’m now in my junior honors year studying mathematical physics at edinburgh uni. I’m generally quite inquisitive, so I hope you won’t mind my (possibly exessive) questions!

    Welcome to the club Will!

So do you play trumpet for your school? Or has it just been a hobby of yours? That’s great that you’re tapping into different instruments. Learning various instruments can definitely create fresh musical perspectives.

Enjoy your time here man, and I’ll see you around!

    Hey Sean,

I used to play for the school orchestra and various brass bands until i started university 2 years ago. I have a grade 6 and still play occasionally for fun, but the guitar is my main instrument now!

    Hey Will!

Welcome to IG!! Great to have you here. Mathematical physics eh? Wow! Funnily enough I played trumpet for about a year during my jazz degree. I was really disillusioned with guitar as a jazz instrument and thought trumpet would be better. It didn’t quite go a planned. It was really hard to learn a new instrument from scratch after playing guitar for so long. Much respect going your way for having skills on the trumpet. Needless to say I got back into guitar again!

I hope you have a great time on here and learn lots from our lessons. If you have any specific lesson requests or questions be sure to let us know. Don’t worry about excessive questions – I love em!

Thanks and best of luck with your junior honours year!

    Cheers,

    Tom

hehe, oddly enough, I am into the same styles as you and previosly played trumpet for 8 years as well, so it seems that we have some stuff in common:)
Tumpet was loads of fun, but you really get punished hard for skipping practise a few days:)
