Hey dudes and dudettes.
This is no original idea, but I was thinking it would be nice to once try and get a jam together here on InfiniteGuitar. I have a backing track lying around that I have in my mind, and then it could be split into say x parts and you would play your part. Nice way to practice improvisation etc.
You probably all know the drill.
What say you?
I have uploaded the track I have in mind here:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/9haae4
And I suggest it be divided such as this:
00:00 – 00:42 – Caelumamittendum
00:42 – 01:22 –
01:22 – 02:01 –
02:01 – 03:00 –If this is no good idea at all, it can easily be called off š
PS: I went ahead and took the first spot.

Since no one else has come forward, I’ll take this opportunity and go for #4.
I’ll have mine down later today.
Also, great job everyone else! Looks like I’ll have some competition to go up against. š
Surely you won’t!
Looking forward to it, Robert!
Ok, here’s my take.
Excuse the loud pops thru this mp3. That is because of my recording software and my Fast Track recording interface. It is a piece of s*** and unfortunatly I cannot get anything else now seeing as my grandmother just got fired.
I did a bunch of takes through this track and this one was really the best one out of the group. Really not my best playing, but it will do.
I am from 2:03 to the end. Enjoy!

Cool playing man!
Have you tried Audacity? Have always been a good (free) software for me.

…..ya know, your probably right. All these months of complaining and all I could have done was install Audacity. And I did, and it actually works.

Man, that is awesome! Less most definitely is more! (well, up to the end, that is ; )
Nice groove throughout the whole piece, I like how you… “complicate” the sound. I’ll have to practice more on that.@Aewrik 3686 wrote:

All I’m using are just chromatic passing tones and “blue” notes.
And thanks. š I really enjoyed your take as well. Had a nice “lydian” sound to it in the beginning that was outside the box, but it fit the song and it took it in a nice turn. I was like “Woah. This is…different. But, I like it, so it’s cool!”

Well, I couldn’t find a better word for it, but I guess “questioning” the song would be another way of putting it. Sounded awesome, no matter what I label it, though ; )@RobertM20 3688 wrote:

Yeah, I think that perhaps I should’ve gone with that a little longer, to better define what I was playing.
Also, my mind just went blank after I played that little one. And I’m sure that you noticed that in my playing, since I lost all timing and dynamic after that ; )@Aewrik 3691 wrote:

And I’m sure that you noticed that in my playing, since I lost all timing and dynamic after that ; )In my full year of taking Jazz Improv, one thing that was put extra emphasis on was not to “blow your load” within the first few bars. you could have stayed with that idea you had in the beginning, and spread it out through the entire solo. Like, have an idea here, then take a breather, then put in another idea, and so on. It’s like constructing a sentence. Have some short licks, then have a long one, then a short one, then maybe 2 long ones. Ya know, keep them varied in length. Also, you don’t have to play something completely different in every lick. If you listen to alot of guitar players, or especially horn players, you’ll find that they have alot of licks that they re-use over and over again within their solos, but they use them to their advantage so that it sounds original even though it’s really not. š
Great take Rob! Very cool feel with that one. š
Thanks Sean.
Man, this was fun! We should get another one started right away.
Thanks for the tips, Rob! I’ll apply that when I improvise in the future.
And yeah, this was quite fun : )
Another one would be nice!if anyone’s still interested…
I made the first minute here, that leaves room for 2 more takesso, link is:

Will record tomorrow.
