Infinite Guitar Group Jam

    Hey dudes and dudettes.

This is no original idea, but I was thinking it would be nice to once try and get a jam together here on InfiniteGuitar. I have a backing track lying around that I have in my mind, and then it could be split into say x parts and you would play your part. Nice way to practice improvisation etc.

You probably all know the drill.

    What say you?

I have uploaded the track I have in mind here:

    http://www.sendspace.com/file/9haae4

And I suggest it be divided such as this:

    00:00 – 00:42 – Caelumamittendum
    00:42 – 01:22 –
    01:22 – 02:01 –
    02:01 – 03:00 –

If this is no good idea at all, it can easily be called off 🙂

PS: I went ahead and took the first spot.

Well, I battled my computer all night to get my software working. Trying to get amplitube to work as a VST was harder than I thought it would be, then once I finally got it working there was massive latency.

Found that I needed to use the ASIO drivers using a program called ASIO4ALL, and after some headache I can now record hearing amplitube in real time! Yay.

But by the time that was all done it was like midnight, so no recording last night. 🙁

BUT! I didn’t go into work today because I’m on meds, I’ve got something going on with my kidneys and I was barely walking yesterday. We’re praying it’s just an infection, and not a huge kidney stone. I feel much better today but because of the meds I shouldn’t be driving, so I’m at home, recording. 😀

Is anyone else finding this progression hard to solo to though? It’s just so simple and repetative. I don’t mind, it just means I’m sitting around noodling a lot before finding notes I like.

I’m not particularly happy with it, but it’ll do. There was still some latency issues making it hard to keep the beat, but I don’t think it messed me up too bad.

nope, not bad at all gollum;)

it kinda misses some flavour in melody, but it’s probably cuz of the backing track
I’ll take my shot tomorrow or the day after tomorrow probably

    peace!

There we have it. It’s almost a little out of context, but…
As with last time, I burned my powder in the first few bars : q
Tried to re-use the phrases a little, though.

To next player: you can start recording right after I’ve turned down the volume a little and hit the final E (followed by a D)

I tried to fool around a little by adding a second guitar (playing a third above), but I didn’t get very far before that idea fell, as you can hear : p

BTW, don’t you just love the sustain in my guitar? I’ve never been able to keep a good sustain… six or seven seconds is my record…

Very nice, I can see what mean about using all the powder.

It’s still not bad by any means, and you stayed well composed all the way though.

I’m eagerly waiting for the next contibution.

    here’s my small contribution
I’m really not happy with it, but nothing better would come over this track from my hands, sorry

That worked. Sounded pretty good imo. This is turning out to be a lot better than I thought it would after I’d listened to the loop the first time.

So who’s gonna fill up the last space?

I guess nobody is interested to play over this one…

here’s a little something different, kinda a jazzy feel to it
I recorded the first part, there’s room for 2 more, each has a minute of play

    anyone, anyhow:D
