Ok here’s mine for a kick off:

Derek Trucks – known about him for a while but have only just tuned into his playing
Sonny Landreth – A very recent discovery
Andreas Lidberg – superb tasteful player from Sweden.
Marco Sfogli – Just a great player

I double the statement on Marco Sfogli.

I just got his album a few days ago and can’t stop listening to it.

Don’t suppose they’re up there on the “WOW OMFG AWESOME” list but, recently, these are the players that I’m enjoying listening to.

Devin Townsend. I find my self loving rhythm guitar more when listening to him. In fact I stop seeing at as rhythm and more of just guitar, doing everything. Also: He’s a legend of a bloke.

Rod Jones/Allan Stuart of Idlewild. I’d heard Idlewild along time beforehand, but never really noticed how well the guitar parts were done, for a supposedly simplistic angry indie-rock band.

I ordered Marco’s CD today – should be with me in a couple of days. Looking forward to it!

At the risk of repeating myself I would have to say George Bellas is the guitarist that has really made me sit up and listen. I only discovered him a couple of months ago and picked up a couple of his CD’s. There’s a few clips on You Tube of him and he just blows me away. Amazing sound, vibrato, technique – just jaw dropping. Highly recommended!

I’ve just recently found out about Trey Anastasio.

The first time I heard ‘You Enjoy Myself’ I almost an orgasm.

excellent stuff.

Ohh and John Scofield. He’s got some pretty sick chops.
