Sounds good up untill the last few seconds. Man, how you end a solo really says alot. IMHO.
It just sounded a little hurried. Try ending on a cool melodic motif. Kind of like you had in the beginning.

I think you have the potential to be a superb player man. I think that although there is some nice playing here, I’d really like to see you dig deeper regarding your phrases and phrasing. I would really like to see what you come up with if you really tuned into what you have inside and make every note and every nuance mean something. Try and question everything you do and don’t settle for something if it doesn’t mean anything to you. Dig deep and bring it out man, it’s there if you feel it!!
Great advice Rick. I need to take that to heart myself.

Hey TJ!
I liked the first bit, but I think it got out of touch towards the end. Great advice from Rick there regarding your phrasing. This was a cool clip, but I’ve seen much better from ya! π You’re a killer player man so keep it up.
By the way, did you rearrange your room? Looks different.
I agree, lots of potential, maybe just need to work on stringing the ideas together more, making it sounds less like “stapeling licks” π
And, seriously man, loose the hairband!
Unless you’re doing 8-finger tapping (and hardly even then), you’re doing yourself
a disservice, and will not learn proper, and clean muting technique.*imagining a future where all these YouTube guitar-teens (not you I wager π
are asked to sit in at the local club for a jam, and can only retort with.

I do hear what your saying, and I think I just need to take some time and analyze what I’m doing. So I can figure out why I like what I like, and why I don’t like some things.
I’ll admit, I know that I am capable of alot more, I just am not taking the time to, as you said, connect with my heart. And play what I feel is really right.
Thanks rick.

“Sorry man, I don’t have a hairband on me :(” :P*I’ll agree, things really did not sound very well thought out here. Kind of like me just going through a couple of licks and not listening to the track to make a coherent solo.
About the hairband :). I only put it on for recordings because, I do record alot of me improvising. And If I get a really cool take I would hate for that to be ruined by some silly excess string noise. It always gets in the way otherwise.
Thanks guys!
Nice playing, keep rocking!!!
Hey Silvio – I have your lessons from Claude, and have to say, you have some real genuine playing. Keep up the good work…
