Hello Everyone! š
I just got sent this link of my Tool-tribute band (ToolFist) playing “46 & 2” this past Saturday night (5/2.) This is the same club from where I posted a video of us playing the song “Sober” about three (3) months ago, but the audio mix was hurrendous! (LOL!) Anyways, this mix of “46 & 2” isn’t too bad, IMO! Also, I thought our performance was OK. I remember when we first learned this song, and the one-minute “Drum-Solo/Lead” section in the middle took some getting use to, because it’s (mostly) in 7/8, and the Bass Player (Jim) and I have to keep that riff/groove tight while Gregg rips out all the crazy fills, polyrhythms, and linear-madness!,(LOL!) Check that part out from (4:55 to 5:55) (Kudos to my friend/drummer Gregg for rocking that Drum-Lead/Solo!) š š
Here’s the YouTube link for the video:

I’d love to hear any comments and/or feedback that you might have.
Also, we might be getting more footage sent to us from Maximum Capacity’s videographer. If that happens, I’ll pick a few more songs and post their links here. š
GEAR: Silverburst Gibson Les Paul Classic Custom; Korg Pitch-Black Chromatic Stage-Tuner; Fulltone Clyde Deluxe Wah-Wah; Hughes & Kettner Access MIDI Programmable Tube Pre-Amp; Rocktron Replifex Multi-Effects; Hughes & Kettner VS-250 2-Ch.(EL-84) Tube Power-Amp; Marshall 1960A Stereo-Wired 4×12 Speaker Cab (with Celestion G12-75’s.) š
Misc: Behringer FCB1010 MIDI Controller; Morley ABY Splitter/Selector Switcher-Box; Rocktron Banshee (TalkBox)–>Shure SM57 Mic–>Mackie Mixer w/FX (These last {3} pieces (TalkBox & accessories) are for the one song “Jambi” ONLY!!! – I should have my head examined! (LOL!) Also, Dunlop Glass Slides; Ibanez “Bubble-Grip” Heavy-Guage Picks; and last, but not least, Heineken Beer!!! š
Thanks guys! š

Hey Bill,
This is a pretty good cover. I’m not a huge fan of Tool and have not heard this song before, but I could immediately hear the Tool sounds. You guys are a great cover band. š The ending was very well done!
I don’t think the vocalist did a good job though. His voice seemed tired. Nice effect of him behind the curtains and the lights and shadows – all well done!
The girls at the start of the video are superb man! The camera guy couldn’t keep his lenses off them. Thankfully he moved around after a while. š
Cheers!

RohanHey Rohan, š
Thanks man! The vocals are difficult to execute in Tool’s music, but I’d agree with your assessment. In his defense, this was about 2-hours into the show with no break! We ended up playing for 2.5 hours that night! (Tool’s songs are very long!) š

My god what an amount of gear lol. That drum solo section was insane! I’m not a big Tool fan (although I do quite like a lot of 10,000 days). I do have to agree about the singer though, he sounded a bit tired, but 2 hours of singing MJK with no break will do that to you
Nice tight playing on everybody’s part. Tool is insanely difficult to pull off. Nicely done Bill! š

Hey Lyle, š
Thanks bro! That means a lot coming from you, and as I said to Rohan, I agree with you guys about the tired vocals. It is what it is! š® š

Dang Bill! Great job. Loved the guitar sound!
Can you pick something that I can simply tap my foot to next time. š
Whats with all this 7/8 stuff?
Really Bill, you guys are tight and looks like you had a GREAT crowd.
The stage setup is nice. Is that the house system?@hscalfo 7273 wrote:

Thanks man! I appreciate your kind words about the performance and my sound. (Believe it or not, I’ve been using that H&K pre-amp/power-amp and Rocktron effects combination for 16-years!!!) I do know what you mean about the inability to “tap one’s foot” to Tool’s music! (LOL!) Except for a few of their earlier songs, (from their first & second LP’s) almost every Tool song is riddled with odd time-signatures and challenging polyrhythms! š
It was a good crowd. We loved it! Maximum Capacity is a cool rock-club! The stage is huge, and they do infact have there own house-sound-system. (The house sound-guy is OK I suppose?!? (I’m spoiled by the fact that Jim, our bassist, is an excellent sound-engineer!) All in all, the place rocks! Check it out (if you ever have an interest in gigging in Western Massachusetts!) š® š
BTW Enrico, since I’m forever “long-winded” (and I don’t want to p***-off the other IG forum members!) I’ll send you a Private Message detailing the band’s history a bit. Don’t worry, it’s not TOO long! (LOL!) š® :p š
Thanks again man! š

Hey Bill, you guys did a great job. Although I really don’t like tool I do appreciate everything they have done as musicians and that they do make really quality music. You guys did a great job covering them. You got their sound down almost perfectly. š
I think I enjoyed watching all the ladies dancing in the front row, especially that one chick in the black and white stripped top. Yum.:p I wish we’d get some of those at our gigs; alas all we have are people headbanging and moshing. š
But I think I am going to have a talk with the drummer and bass/singer. The crap they pull needs to stop. The gig in Chicago on Saturday made me realize a few things: 1. No more smoking weed during a gig day, ESPECIALLY while driving. If they get caught, I am guilty by association, the car get’s towed, all the gear gets confiscated, we all get big-ass fines and probably whisked away to the police station. 2. No more crappy venues. we need to be booked in legitimate clubs. 3. We are going to get paid. None of this “Door” ****. A flat rate up front when we get there, or at least a deposit down before we play and the rest when we’re done. I’m sick of getting screwed out of money by tool-bag promoters who don’t know what they are doing. If it happens again I’m calling my main guinea to straighten out the guy who is withholding our pay. 4. They need to stop showing up late to practice. This is just inexcusable. It’s precisely why we’re not tight anymore. not only do they constantly show up late but the drummer sometimes leaves rehearsal early to go score weed. He’s in his mid 30’s and has a kid, he needs to grow up.
…sorry about all that, I just had to get that all off my chest. You guys did a great show on there. keep those live vids coming Bill. š

Hey Rob, š
Thanks for your compliments! That means a lot from a great player like you! š
I just “P.M.’d” (Private Messaged) you. so check your inbox bro! š

Really nice!
Guitarplaying sounds nice and you got yourself a really tight drummer there! I must say that i’m really impressed because everone in the band needs to be quite tight when you play tool. Can’t really say that the singer sounded so tired, it was quite authentic to the singing that Keenan (that’s his name right? Too tired to wikipedia it, hehe) in tool does.
Keep up the good work man!
Tight performance as always Bill! š
Rob, good luck with your band’s situation. Sounds like they care more about a certain lifestyle than they do the music. Hopefully things take a more professional turn soon.
Hey Guys, š
Thanks so much for the kind words and the constructive criticism! I do appreciate it. š

Hello, All! š
I just wanted to add that I spoke to my (ToolFist) singer (Jose) last night at our gig (which went very well incidently!) and upon inquiring about whether there would be any more vid-footage posted on YouTube of our show at Maximum Capacity on May 9th, he assured me that he does have a bunch of footage from the videographer to go through. He said that as soon as he does, and determines which (if any LOL!) footage/performances are any good, he”ll post them/it on YouTube! So I’m pretty confident that there’ll be at least one or two (1 or 2) more songs posted on YT soon. I’ll lean on Jose this week regarding his reviewing/editing of that footage! (LOL!) š š
Thanks guys! š
