Sorry if you guys have already seen this, but thought I’d post it here. Metallica’s video for the “The day that never comes” from their latest album.
Beautiful video. Awesome song.

It already leaked…
And I must say, it is a step in the right direction.
It is interesting. It has some good stuff that I liked from load, but still quite fresh and new. Also frankly I liked the drumming in this song. I like it.
The day that never comes wasnt that bad, but i didnt like it very much. Im eager to listen to Unforgiven III tho 😛
yes, its leaked 😀 I consider myself a metalhead (still an amateur though), and this album has be the bestest thrash album!
no such word as bestset
and there are plenty other albums out there kicking this one ass (including metallica’s old ones)
or Rest in peace and all bunch of others..but, It really is a great album in total..
and of course, better than ST. anger … and all the latest..
as some one said, it really is a giant leap towards the right direction.. (but I guess without Cliff.. they will never go back to the good times…)ahh… well.. have a listen to “My Apocalypse” a few times and I’m sure the word bestest will dawn on you! 😀
I was hoping they would make a thrash album again. i was very dissapointed. if you want REAL thrash, try Agent Orange by Sodom, Reign in blood by Slayer, or the king of all thrash albums Rust In Peace by Megadeth. Heck, try anything by those three bands. But death magnetic isn’t thrash, unfortunately .
Edit: oh, and james’s vocals on this song are painful.@arc_of_descent 4575 wrote:

…………..
Listened to the album streamed on their site. To be honest, it doesn’t do much for me.
I actually really enjoyed a couple songs and parts here and there. But the majority of the stuff sounded cliche to my ears. And apologies to any Kirk Hammett fans, but I couldn’t stand his lead playing on this album. That guy needs to branch out a bit and try to actually play a couple melodies in his solos!
I’ll always love Metallica, but I definitely miss the good ol’ days with them and their older stuff.
I liked it quite a bit. The only thing that bothers me is that the bass once again is very low in the mix.
Rober Truillo is a fantastic bassist. Give the guy some room in the mix fellas.
Coop
I am loving this album. It’s not one of their best, but it is a lot better than St Anger. I also think that every guitar solo on the album, without exception, is horrendously bad.
I agree with Sean about needing some melody in there.
I agree Kirk Hammet really has gone on a tangent with his solos. But the solo on The Day That Never Comes is not half bad. Also don’t forget that Kirk is a killer rhythm guitarist just like James is (watch some of his videos on youtube – MOP, all downpicking ), so blaming him for the solo sounds would not be entirely justified.
Errr I can play mop with downpicking only as well but I´m not a killer rythm guitar player, and I never really saw either James or Kirk as great rythm guitar players. Though they came up with some catchy lines.
Having watched Metallica perform the whole of the Master Of Puppets album live two years ago and then seing them perform live a few weeks ago i can honestly say that ALL of kirks improvised solos were bad. I mean COMICALLY bad. He was the reason i wanted to play lead guitar in the first place, but he hasn’t become a better guitarist with age unfortunately.
I agree that he’s a decent rhythm guitarist though. I’ve never been able to do Master Of Puppets with just downstrokes (i’ve been trying for 11 years 🙂 ) and they both do it live much faster than on the cd. Ludicrous!
Metallica are still my favourite band, but i don’t like their some of their newer lyrics or any of their solos. “What don’t kill you make you more strong”? Such a clumsy line.
I´d say that being able to play downstrokes fast ain´t much to do with being a great rythm guitar player. Sure they can be fast, but there´s other stuff to it than being fast.
Death Magnetic was too much of an expectation. They just made a mediocre album, and I think that´s what should have been expected. Some riffs are allright, some riffs are awkward, rythm seems quite frantic, and not really connected at some points, solos vary from mediocre to quite aweful and generally I had a feeling, that this was some high school starting band and an estabilished band. Too bad, really. Oh and End of the Line contains melody lines from Sad but True. Verse vocals.
