Hey guys, ive been wanting to listen to more music these days, specially in the Progressive Metal scene and Symphonic Metal and Power Metal as well!

Ive always thought myself as a Progressive Metal diehard fan but the truth is, when it comes to my head i can only think of Dream Theater and Symphony X, and id like to expand more on that if you know what i mean. Bands, albums songs , all greatly appreciated!

It varies… Selkies is a short song for them (white walls is 14 minutes long)
But in longer songs it changes, you can hear death metal, prog, rock and even country šŸ™‚
try listening to the complete song.
if you absolutly cant stand growls, check out nevermore… They never growl šŸ˜‰

If you like Dream Theater and Symphony X check out Pathosray and Spheric Universe Experience. Anything by them.

Also check out Pagan’s Mind and then Stratovarius.

I’ve only heard it in the same sentence as Dillinger Escape Plan.

Oh prog metal, so many good ones. Here’s some you may or may not have heard of…

Spastic Ink – Ron Jarzombek of Watchtower kills it in this band, of which Ink Complete is my favorite of their two albums. Ultimate instrumental math metal with no comparison

Orphaned Land – Israeli band featuring loads of unique instruments and sounds from the middle east. Half if English, half in Hebrew, lucky for me I know both haha. Check out the album “Mabool” or the recently released “Never Ending Way of OrWarriOr.” Love this band

Spiral Architect – Only one album but it is a masterpiece. Really complex riffing/timing. Not a big fan of the vocals though

Fates Warning – Surely you’ve heard of them, but they’re often overlooked. “Awaken The Guardian” and “The Spectre Within” are amazing, and John Arch may be my favorite metal vocalist ever.

A few more are Gordian Knot, Ayreon, and Redemption. I could go on but here’s a super awesome link instead

BTW that site is having a tournament style best metal album of all time thing going on. Interesting to say the least
