Well, I got my JP6 on Thursday.
All I can say is WOW: It is byfar the easiest playin guitar I have ever owned. I have had an American Strats Plus, PRS Standard 24s, a really nice Jackson Dinky, and my ever faithful Les Paul Studio, but I must say that the JP6 blows them away byfar.
First of all the Mystic Dream color scheme is great. I really cannot tell what color the guitar is supposed to be. Sometimes its blue, then others green, or lavender. I would be curious as to how the guys at Ernie Ball came up with that.
The neck: Very fast. Very smooth. The action, after some minor adjustments, is low but not to low. Initally there was some fret buzz on the low E and A strings but a quick trip to a buddy of mine who is a genius at working on guitars got the JP6 setup for me in a jiffy.
It took me a bit to get used to the longer playing scale. The 24 frets and longer scale had my muscle memory off a bit since I have been playing a Les Paul Studio for the past couple of years exclusively. But now its all good.
The Pickups: The high end Dimarzzos are the stuff man. The Piezo is a very nice piece of work. If you want a screaming sound the DeMarzzios are the way to go. I have never played thru a Piezo before, but the sonic capabilies are quite endless. I never really thought I could get a true acoustic sound thru an electric before, but the JP6 can and does a fanstastic job with the Piezo.
Whammy bar: This is the first guitar with a floating bridge the does not go out of tune: PERIOD!!!! The Schaler with the locking tuning knobs is just great. Dive bombs, or subtle vibrato the thing just will not go out of tune at all. Much better than the Floyd Rose piece of doo!!!
Playing: This is a shredders guitar. Not that I am one, cause I am not. But the action, sound, and overall feel of this guitar is just amazing. It the first guitar that really felt very right for me straight out of the box. I just want to play all the time now. But alas, my family life does not allow for that. LOL!!!
Random notes: If you have the money get one of these guitars. You will not be disappointed. Look at it as an investment. I really believe that the JP6 will be a collectors item in 20 years.
