    Hi
Just joined and wanted to put some stuff up so here goes. I’m a HUGE music fan (only two types in my book…good and bad) so thought I’d put a variety up!

First off a Van Halen cover of ‘On Fire’ with a mate of mine from the US called Johnny Lokke. Imagine Rob Halford jamming with old VH and you’ll get the idea!

Second, a cover of Muse’ ‘Stockholm Syndrome’ with another friend from Florida called John Freidrich. I asked him to sing it like HIMSELF as I don’t know any choirboys who could do the genius that is Matt Bellamy! I really enjoyed using a delay trick ala EVH on ‘Cathedral’ to do the arpeggiated piano bit as I don’t have a synth with an arpeggiator šŸ™

And finally, some original stuff. This is a song called ‘High 5’ and I did the lot on this one using my PODxt for the guitar, Acid Pro 6.0 with EZDrummer for the drums and my Behringer Bass V-Amp rack for the bass (obviously!). Keys were done with a Roland JV1080 rack and I mixed using Cakewalk 9.0 as I’m a bit of a Luddite and I’ve used it for years so know my way around it quickly.

Sorry if this isn’t the way to upload here (i.e 3 tracks) but I just thought I’d show a few different sides to my playing. The players I admire would take me an hour to list and change on a weekly basis BUT the following never changes:

Doug Aldrich for his tone and chops
Paul Gilbert for his sense of humour and being a 21st century Mozart
Stevie Ray Vaughan for his soul and passion and fire
EVH for starting me off on this road to hell

    Cheers.

    Sup Chris!

Cool stuff man. I really enjoyed the Muse cover! Great playing and great use of the effects. That’s one of my favorite songs by Muse, and the chorus on Stockholm Syndrome is one of the most beautful choruses I’ve ever heard in my opinion. Love it!

Sounds great Chris. Keep it up!!

    Sean

ps. I’d recommend putting these tracks on Soundclick where people can stream instead of download. Might get some more listens that way.

Man you got some nice tunes there! High 5 was Great. Your recording mix was really nice also. I will be listening to High 5 more than once. Let me know if you put it on Soundclick. I will add it to my Soundclick Radio Station.

I spy with my little eye… something modern but with a retro grill cloth…

    It’s a flextone!

Is that what you’re really using for recording? Sounds way better than any of the recording I’ve been able to get out of my flextone 2. I’d be interested to find out if you’re using it direct or mic’ed, and if mic’ed with what hardware.

BTW, I didn’t use the mediafire links and just went to your soundclick. Mediafire keeps asking me to register I just plain don’t want to. I’ve already got a million registerations places that I’ll never remember about and it’s just plain annoying. That’s why I got a band myspace several years ago, free music hosting.

BTW, playing sounds good… no… great! Keep it up man.

It’s thru a PODxt mate BUT I used to have a Flextone II XL which I gor tid of like an idiot. I also had a Flextone III for a very short time as I wasn’t very taken with it…nowhere as good as the II. Sorry about the Mediafire thing. I was looking for a site to put stuff up quick and forgot all about soundclick…I don’t update the page very often. Thansk for the comments. šŸ™‚

Yea my flextone II was my first amp and I’ve played a lot of gigs with it and it’s served me well. One of my old bandmates had a flextone III and really didn’t like the tones he’d get from it. He liked his effects with it, but I hated the tone he had. I think his hearing loss had an effect on his use of effects.

BTW that’s still pretty good tone comming from that PODxt. Better than a lot of other recordings I’ve heard with them. I can still tell it’s not a tube amp that’s mic’ed, but it certainly ain’t bad.

Yeah, it’s a great item is the XT. I’ve had SRV, EVH, Lynch, Satch, Zakk and Angus tones out of it…never managed to get a John Sykes tone tho…that’s gotta be one of the hardest to replicate!
