November rain solo cover

Forums Listening Lounge November rain solo cover

    Hey Guys,

How are you all doing? It’s been so long that I have posted on this site, I feel almost guilty šŸ˜€

I’ve been playing a lot of Guitar lately though and at this stage it’s really affecting my “normal earning life” situation. šŸ˜®

Anyway, I recently recorded myself playing the solo from November rain. It’s not perfect note by note and has some mistakes but I’d be happy to receive any feedback.

    Cheers!

    Hey Ro, šŸ™‚

Well done my friend! šŸ˜Ž Btw, it’s good to hear from you again here. It’s been awhile! šŸ˜‰

I especially liked the second-half of the solo where you played some very cool 16th-note lines/sequences! šŸ˜Ž

Your tone was pretty cool too. I like how you didn’t “over-do” the amount of gain! it kept your’s (and Slash’s!) melodies and licks nice and clear/articulate! šŸ˜Ž

Keep up the good work bro! šŸ˜‰

    Thanks Guys.

Yup, it’s going through a POD Xt.

Hey, hope I can bother you guys a bit more. I’m currently learning the Paul Gilbert song “I cannot tell a lie”. Actually inspired by watching Lyle Watt (who’s a member here at IG) in which he does an awesome job. I actually like his selection of songs he decides to cover and he has a very smart approach to it. So I’ve decided to shamelessly copy his choice. šŸ˜€

This particular song has a section which has some alternate picking at a speed which I can’t really play yet.One approach is to treat this as an exercise and slowly improve at it. But I’ve been working on my legato quite a lot and I’m very satisfied about the improvements I can see. So why not concentrate on the musicality and try to work on that section using both a combination of picking and some smartly placed hammer-ons and pull-offs? And keeping in mind that it needs to sound as good as on the record. But then, I also want my strict alternate picking technique to improve. šŸ˜”

Hope I make sense. These questions sound silly, but we as guitarists spend a lot of time thinking about this stuff. Or maybe I’m crazy! šŸ˜€
