Here’s an old vid recorded in 1993(I’d been playing for around 2 years) of me playing some Malmsteen, Becker and Howe type stuff.

I’ve seen this before Rick, don’t remember who had uploaded it though.
SOme scary chops there! Btw, are we talking 2 years on the electric, or two years in total?
(What I mean is, when did you make the leap from classical to electric?)

Hey Rick, 🙂

Two years, huh??? Well, I guess some people just got it! I love how you never even look at your fretboard whilst ripping six-string-arpeggio-sweeps! Priceless!
You know what just occured to me? Ibanez’s highly successful RG-Line was originally intended as a “Rick Graham” signature series!!! (Get it…R.G….Ha-Ha!!!) Hmmm?
Interesting to note that some of the “RG-trademarks” were already established at that point (left-thumb parallel to neck, awesome economy-of-motion, (maybe not quite as effortless as NOW though) highly-developed “sweep & taps,” and of course the vicious “pick-attack/pinch-harmonics!”) 😎

I don’t know about everyone else out there, but after two years, I was psyched to be able to handle “Purple Haze” (by Hendrix) or “Only You Can Rock Me” (by UFO – Michael Schenker!) Here I am 28 years later, and I still can’t touch Rick’s “two-year” Malmsteen, Howe, and Becker!!! HOLY CRAP!!! (LOL!) 😮 :rolleyes: 😮 😉

Man, you look so young in the vid, how old were you in ’93?

Outstanding playing for such a short period of time…I’ve been playing on electric guitar for a year and a half now, and I’m a hundred light years away from that level of technique…

Amazing, just amazing.

Richard, I started electric before classical and I started classical in around 1995. The ‘2 years’ could actually be 2 1/2 because I’m not sure exactly which month it was taken but I know it can’t be more than 2 1/2 tho.

arc_of_descent – Hehehe, that’s my brothers nifty camera work and narration skills there. Yep, that was beer 😉 The pic is of a fashion model(who I really fancied) the name of which escapes me at the moment……..

Bill and Pekki – I really don’t think that I had/have more ability than anyone and I think that it was, in the main, due to the fact that I was doing nothing other than practicing all day, every day. I really don’t think I have any ‘special’ ability at all other than I practiced really hard.

I seen this video awhile back …goes to show rick has mad skills!!! Rick, i don’t understand why you don’t get more recognition then you do. You deserve it…your style and skill is amazing!! I am honored you even talk to me…LOL!

I just returned from burning my all my guitars.
Loved the camera jokes and general fun atmosphere……..oh yea, that guy on guitar was pretty good too.
