:cool:I had the chance to check out the MarkV today. This is the one our fellow member Frank has.He is by the was a STELLAR player in ways that most of us would love to be.Having said that .We used three guitars,The Jackson custom soloist,a Les Paul Standard, and last but suprisingly not least a 40th anniversary Fender Strat.1rst channel fat clean, stellar, clean very good, tweed seemed to be in it’s own universe. All crystall clear 2.nd channel handled the crunch settings with different modes that took us from huge chordal phrasing ala Jimmy Page to overdriven lead lines that were not too over the top but warm with some stinky on them, just enough bite with sring to sring clarity,(which is common on every channel)!!!!! Then we move into the Mark territory( I will not try to call them by name as I was a Marshhal guy and don”t know them). They gave HUGE tones with all the Santana tone and sustaine for days moreso with the Jackson and Les Paul. The latter two channels will take you into major shred territory of your choice(Frank clearly takes care of that). But they will also let you play Huge chords that ring clear even with the hi gain. The Srat was the big suprise,,,,,it took to all three channels, did not loose it’s identity as a strat.I feel that this amp is a very vesitile tone machine a nine trick pony if you will that allows one to explore and create and find many thing to enjoy as a player.

    Hi guys,

My friend, DV52, is as always too kind. The Mark 5 is a tone monster! This was the first time after a couple of months of playing through it that I had a chance to crank it up a bit. I wanted to demo it for my friend as he is in the market for a new amp.
What he says is true, this amp shines on any channel from the cleanest of cleans to the overdrive modes, each of which owning very distinct voices.
The Strat sounded incredible through it! The high gain is usable and toneful, and you can still hear the individual character of each guitar you use. The string to string definition remains, even in the highest gain settings. I was blown away. My Soloist sounded incredible through it, and I find myself using the neck pickup for leads much more than I used to, as the tone is never muddy, and reminds me of John Petruccis’ and Marco Sfoglis’, really fat and musical.
Guys, this amp is a bargain for 2 grand! It is truly inspiring to play through on any channel, and it will take me a very long time to fully explore all the tonal possibilities of this beast. Do yourself a favor and give one a test drive.

    Frank

…and ps: as soon as I become equipped to post videos, I will!
