I’ve been having a play over the track today, I may have to enter although I’m not sure if I’d get anywhere…

Definitely gonna do this, and unlike the last few I’ve done, actually get it finished with plenty of time to promote the hell out of it. Already started writing a composed one, and I’ll probably also do an improvised one (like I did with the first contest). Should be fun. šŸ™‚

    Looking forward to it!

Great group of judges. Your album the masterplan is amazing! This is my nephews vid from last year. I am trying to think of something to do for this now. Great bt by the way. This performance will be tough to beat. He had only been playing for 4 weeks, when we filmed this last summer.

What benefits would promoting your video actually bring? Surely if it’s being judged by a panel the public’s reception isn’t relevant?

You’ll have to show Slimer this little guy Ramon Luis Galang

Ah you know… I always thought that when the first guitar idol came along… but since then, if you want to make a living at guitar or make bonds with people the self promo aspect is key.

A simple way to achieve this is positive feedback on videos you like. Subscribe to channels and get them to subscribe back… build a following network… you may not win the title this time, but you will be building your future.

    Cheers Laurie

Cheers for the quick reply Laurie, I was only curious about whether it had any bearing on the judging etc, but I can see where you’re coming from in terms of networking. I’ll probably enter at some point in January once I’ve bought Guitar Rig 4, I’m busy learning Sfogli’s own Andromeda at the minute!

Merry Christmas to you too, Laurie! šŸ™‚

I think my Strings on Fire entry was a wake-up call to stop submitting things at the last minute. (Not only because of the sloppy performance and bad audio/video sync issues towards the end, but also the stress from various hardware/editing-related issues, right down to the last few hours).

I always want to give myself the most time to practice and polish these things, and I seem to work well under pressure. But it doesn’t always work out.

On a related note, I think someone needs to create a “Write and record an instrumental album!” YouTube contest and set the deadline for March 2010… That might be what it takes for me to finally FINISH this thing, LOL!

šŸ˜® That’s pretty wild that I said that jokingly and it turned out someone is actually doing it.

Good luck with it, Andy! šŸ™‚
