    I searched the forum a bit but didn’t find exactly what I was looking for. I am looking for advice on software to allow me to play along but take the guitar out of the mix. I’ve checked out Jamvox and riff- station. are there any others? I would like to do a little recording too. I wouldn’t mind being able to make my own drum beats also. Can Cubase or any of those type programs do this?

    I just have no experience with music software at all.

    Hey man,

    I’ve never personally tried this and am not sure as to the best route. I did see this software called Melodyne and it might be able to do what you’re looking for. It’s pricey but it looks like it has a 30-day trial? Might be worth a shot!

    Sounds like you definitely need to get your hands on a DAW (digital audio workstation) and I can personally recommend Cubase as it’s my software of choice. You can also mess around with trying to EQ out the guitars manually, doing some surgical cuts in the mid and high frequencies. It won’t sound super clean but it could at least lessen the intensity of the guitars in the track.

    But yeah, get a DAW man! Once you get one that’s when the fun/learning begins. šŸ™‚ And yes you’d be able to program drums inside a DAW as well.
