    Hey there,

I just finished editing this new video featuring my funk / fusion band “Hinz und Kunz Quintett” (yeah that’s German…). It’s our very special funky arrangement of Steve Lukather’s “Party in Simon’s Pants” from 1994. You’ll find lots of guitar (that’s me btw) and saxophone solos in there – so just check it out:

This was all basically recorded live in one take in one single room (apart from the piano). So don’t trust any sound engineer who’s telling you that’s impossible! The editing was done in Reaper and Sony Vegas Movie Studio.

Looking forward to your comments and feedback.

(Check back next week for a funky saxophoned rendition of Guthrie Govans masterpiece “Wonderful Slippery Thing” – that tune is always great fun to play.)

    Thilo

    Awesome indeed! Loved it Thilo!

Really nice. Were all your solos improvised?

Wow, thanks a lot for the kind words! šŸ˜€
I’ve just arrived back home from vacation (spent some days in France), I’m definitely thrilled to be greeted with such positive feedback!
    Really appreciate it.

Yes, we basically just jumped into it – very funny but also kind of challenging. šŸ˜‰ We decided to stick with the second take, most of the times it gets less fresh and spontaneous the harder you try. Funnily enough, I wasn’t all too happy with my solo at first, but while mixing and editing the video I’ve kind of grown to like it…

Just in case you missed it, here’s our saxophoned version of “Wonderful Slippery Thing”. Enjoy:

Kickass job, love the band, the sound and the choice of tunes šŸ™‚
