Which album would you say has had the biggest impact on your life?
For me, the album which had the biggest impact was:
Master of Puppets – Metallica
Although there are many others, I feel that this album made this biggest impact and changed my perception of music.

For me it was DreamTheater’s “Images and words” I heard back in 95, actually got it off a friend of mine on cassette tape but was just in awe with the musicianship and Melody’s in their songs.
hmm.. tough one.
First off I have to say Al Di Meola’s Elegant Gypsy album. That’s the first time I ever listened to anything remotely fusion/jazz related. Although it isn’t much of a jazz album but it certainly got me interested in many different styles of music.
Dark Side Of The Moon certainly changed my life. I remember my first time listening to the album so long ago, I almost had chills the whole time. Made me realize that a lot of the time in music….. less is more..WAY more.
Bob Dylan’s Blood On The Tracks was another eye opener… changed my whole perspective on music. Didn’t realize that words could be so powerful.
Mine?
Wow, that is a tough one.
Probably Ride The Lightning. That was the album that really made me want to start playing guitar and really got me into the whole heavy metal genre in the first place. It was like “Wow. I had no idea music like this existed, this is cool!” Plus it really helped me with my loneliness.
At the time I was listening to alot of mellow stuff. Stuff that I am to ashamed to even mention. I didn’t even have a CD player in my room. but mind you I was only about 11-12 at the time.
Pantera – Vulgar Display Of Power
The first metal album I truely enjoyed, damn I thought they were the most br00tal thing ever š
There are a few of those because my direction changed a few times. First album which was a big boom for me was Metallica – ReLoad, than after that it was Steve Vai’s – Passion And Warfare which totally switched me from metal to instrumental rock. And i guess taht’s about it. Now i still lsiten to A LOT of metal but instrumental shred/rock is what makes my day š
That’s a toughie!
For me it has to be Watchtower’s “Control and Resistance” – when it came out in the late 80’s I was playing bass and was blown away by the technique and sound that these guys had. I learned the bass off the entire album by ear (which involved countless hours stood over the record player moving the needle back and forth!) and it inspired me to really concentrate on my playing. Awesome album/ CD!
Cliche I know, but it was Dark Side Of The Moon. After that I became the PF nut I am today. And Gilmour is the reason I didn’t quit guitar years back.
If i had to pick one (And i hate to pick one) it would have to be Iron Maidens Powerslave, The album remains just an absolute favorite of mine, I love it to death. The riffs, the vocals, the drums, bass, the solos, everything is amazing!
Well I would actually have to pick 2 albums. One that introduced me to rock, and one to metal š
The first time I heard Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Pronounced Leh-Nerd Skin-Nerd’ I fell in love with Southern and Classic Rock, and then when I heard Iron Maiden’s Piece of Mind, I fell in love with metal šI’m not going to mention albums but a couple of bands and their music…
Dream Theater
And
Metallica

Ahh I gotta add Metallica as well
The album that forever changed my life and made me become interested in metal (although it’s not a metal album and I pretty much hate it now, except for Nothing Else Matters, of course) is the Black Album by Metallica. Ride the Lightning and many others soon came afterwards.
ACDC – Highway to Hell
Two albums….metallica’s kill em all and mercyful fate’s melissa
Nirvana – Bleach
Pearl Jam – Ten
Soundgarden – Superunknown
Alice In Chains – Facelift
Mudhoney – Mudhoney5 Grunge bands that were around and got me into music when I was very young and made me want to play guitar.
