Hello All, š
I just wanted to let anyone who might be interested know that I have just completed a rather extensive transcription and acccompanying theory-analysis of a Tom Quayle rock-fusion improvisation/solo! š
Stay tuned for details and/or P.M. me if your interested in knowing more about this. For now, I’m waiting to hear back from Tom in hopes that he will think the transcription and accompanying analysis are good enough/accurate enough to make publicly viewable and/or downloadable. š
I can promise everyone that this transcription reveals a “treasure-chest” full of Tom’s trademark legato and hybrid-picking techniques, interesting note-choices/modal-applications, arpeggios and wide-interval ideas, chromatic-approach/chromatic-lines, creative pentatonic applications, as well as Tom’s keen sense of melody and unique sense of rhythm/phrasing. š š® š
Tom Quayle is an amazing musician, so this could be an opportunity to get a little closer to (and learn some specifics about) his unique style! š š
NOTE: This is NOT an ADVERTISEMENT! This transcription/analysis is for everyone’s educational use, and as such, will be “free-of-charge!”

Hey Andres! š
That’s AWESOME that you’re transcribing some T.Q.! Great stuff, isn’t it?!? š š
Hey I guess therein lies one HUGE difference between you and me: You’re an excellent player who can actually execute a VERY demanding Tom Quayle improvisation/solo, whereas I…..well…….I…..uuhhhmmmm…..NOT SO MUCH!!! š® š ;)…Someday!… (LOL!)

Hello All,
In regards to the Tom Quayle transcription that I’ve been working to make public, I have mostly good news š and one little sticking-point!
First and foremost, Tom Quayle was very complimentary and has given me the “thumbs-up” to go ahead and make the transcription and accompanying analysis public! š This will be in the form of a downloadable zip-file from a file-hosting website. I will hyperlink the appropriate address to make it very easy for anyone interested, as soon as I’m done. That brings up the one “sticking-point” that is going to hold me back from releasing that link for a few more hours (probably either late tonight (11/2 – E.S.T) or early tomorrow (11/3 – E.S.T.) Bare with me folks! The reason I need a few more hours is because Tom and Richard Lundmark have (properly) brought to my attention that perhaps it would make sense if I included an additional “4ths-tuning” TAB as part of the downloadable zip-file, since that is definitely the tuning that Tom used.) It really shouldn’t be too much work, so I’m going to get on that right now for a couple of hours. Then I have to teach for about 5-hours this afternoon (2:30 – 7:30 P.M – E.S.T.) Then tonight I’ll try to finish it up, OK. š
Hang tight, I’m almost there…:o

Hey Martin, š
Sorry for the delay bro!
When I created the alternate “fourths-tuning” transcription, I went back to the original video-footage to double-check a few spots where my “standard-tuning” to “fourths-tuning” translation/modifications yielded fingerings which didn’t seem logical to me. Sure enough, upon closer scrutiny, I realized a few discrepencies, and subsequently I made the appropriate changes! I’m very pleased with the results, since I’m confident I’ve created an even more accurate transcription/TAB than I had before! The downside to this latest follow-up/modification is that it took time! (LOL!) Since this is an “uncompensated-project” that I’ve tackled purely for the “love-of-it” and for the prospect of uncovering some of “Tom’s fusion-genius,” I’ve had to defer to some of my other (paid) commitments (like lessons, band-rehearsals, gigs, etc.) But listen I don’t want to come across as “whiny” about my schedule, because I LOVE what I do! Furthermore, I’m clearly NOT the only busy person out here! I’ll bet everyone is busy in their own ways. I just feel bad that I couldn’t get this done sooner, but I’m confident that when you see the finished product(s), you’ll probably understand “what-took-so-long!” š® š
Again, I’m sorry for the delay Martin, and I REALLY am looking forward to the feedback/opinions of all of you guys who are interested in this project/transcription/analysis! š
Stay tuned….(a little longer – LOL!) I promise that I’m VERY close to being DONE! š

Hey Bill
Every cloud has a silver lining š I’m sure it’ll be an impeccable transcription. I’m really looking forward to checking it out man!

Hey Rick, š
Thanks for understanding man! š I probably should not have indicated/promised to everyone that I was close to being done until I was absolutely positive I could deliver the goods! (LOL!) Oh well…you live and you learn! š
Also Rick, thanks for the kind/positive speculation regarding the transcription’s overall quality. I’ll REALLY feel good about it if that’s your opinion AFTER checking it out!!! (LOL!) š
Stay tuned! š

It’s great that you don’t release it until you really think it’s perfect, it shows how well you worked on it!
