Nice one dude! Looking forward to yours and everybody else’s entries.
Very cool!
Just a tip for any of you guys entering: Send Tom and Rick tea with milk and it will help them judge in your favor. š
Thanks for this competition. The backing track is superb. Well done Tom!
Does one have to shred though? š”

RohanIt’s just a fun title to go with the competition. The last thing I will be looking for in entries is someone blasting over the BT from beginning to end. Creative phrasing, intonation, tone, vibrato, motivic development are some of the things I’ll be looking out for and if it can be improvised from beginning to end, even better.
my first youtube clip..and my temporary entry to the competition:o

Kudos to Rick, Tom and Laurie on this! I can’t wait to give it a shot, but i need to learn some guitar first š@Jack Gardiner 8087 wrote:

Hi kantor1003, š
Well done man…smooth stuff. š I liked a lot of your legato ideas, and I liked how you snuck a little Tom Quayle-approved outside-fusion tonality in there in a few spots. š Tastefully done! BTW, I liked your tone here too. Can you tell us what your rig was? Thanks! š

Laurie,
I second what Sean has said here. Thank you (as a fan and student of extreme/shred/instrumental guitar-based music) for your tireless efforts in discovering and/or promoting unknown, (or lesser known) yet very deserving guitar talents! At first, I thought you were just another avid fan of excellent guitar, (like I am!) and I suppose you are…because I was always running into your name no matter where I ended-up while poking around in an attempt to check out fresh and exciting guitarists! Once I discovered your “Truth In Shredding” Blog, then I figured it out! You are relentless sir, and we all thank you for your efforts! š
BTW, being from the suburbs of Boston, MA, I’d personally like to thank you for your print/promotion of my friend and teacher Ethan Brosh from Newton MA! For those who don’t know Ethan (or his equally amazing sister Nili!) Ethan is a Berklee College of Music Alumni/Instructor who specializes in 80’s-style-shred guitar music, and was recently (March, 2009) officially signed-on as a Magna Carta Records recording artist! His debut LP (called Ethan Brosh – “Out Of Oblivion”) is AWESOME! Besides Ethan’s own smoking guitar efforts, Ethan also enlisted the talents of/trades-off solos with the likes of Greg Howe, George Lynch, and Joe Stump! A truly shred-worthy effort! If any of you IG’ists are into that sort of “post-Yngwie neo-classical shred-meets-Greg Howe,” then you should check out my buddy Ethan Brosh! š

http://www.myspace.com/pedrosantosmHi Pedro! š
Well done sir! š Excellent leagto runs, and I liked how you used a few “worked-out” motifs with repetition in a couple of spots. š Very effective. Best of luck! š
