Hello everyone. My name is Will Bailey. I have owned a guitar for about 8years. I’ve actually seriously played for about a year outside of attempting to impress friends and females…lol I’m currently on terminal leave in the military. Basically 60days payed vacation to “re-adjust” to civilian life before getting out.
How I found this site…I had all but given up on dreams of being a professional guitarist or at least attaining that skill level until I was surfing youtube the other day and came across Rick Graham’s “Still Hurts” cover. I must have watched it 50x:eek: I would say I’m a beginner/intermediate player. I can play a lot of early Ozzy/Randy Rhoads songs and a lot of early Metallica songs. The most challenging song I know how to play is “I’m Alright” by Neil Zaza. When it comes to music knowledge scales/chords/modes I’m clueless. Just learned how to read(interpret) sheet music yesterday through this site.
Look forward to sharing the learning experience with everyone here! Also, a thank you to Rick Graham for igniting an old fire. Thanks!
Best of Luck

That’s interesting that Rick Graham drew you to Infinite Guitar, because that’s what initially drew me here too! š Of course once I got here, I discovered some other great instructors and members, and the networking amongst instructors and members has been super! I just wanted to let you know that you’ve made a great choice and that you’re NOT the only one who thinks so highly of Rick! He has a unique way of inspiring once you see/hear him play! BTW, he’s also a great guy too! š
Also, with your Ozzy & Metallica background, you may find some great inspiration from the “originally-composed” tutorials of Infinite Guitar’s fearless leader & Instructor Sean Conklin! He’s also a great guy, an awesome player, and composes these excellent “ditties” that serve as tutorials to become a better rock & metal player. š
If you want to learn more about the “jazz-fusion” side of things, then Tom Quayle will be your man! (BTW, Tom happens to be a phenomenal hybrid-picker [pick & fingers together] too, if you ever want to delve into that territory.) If you want to bridge the gap between Sean’s metal and Tom’s fusion, then perhaps Richard Lundmark will be of help. He’s awesome too, (and extremely knowledgable in a lot of different areas!)
As you can see, there’s something for everybody here at Infinite Guitar! š
See you around the site! š
Cheers! š

Hey Will,
As Sean said, thanks for your commitment/sacrifice/service to our country in the military! š
You military folks do NOT receive nearly enough thanks for all that you do! Many people (in general, and especially mainstream news-media, entertainers – IE: actors, musicians, etc)) love to denounce/”trash-on” all things “conservative” or any association with the previous administration, yet these same “entertainers” have no problem fully capitalizing/”making-money” here! What these “hypocrits” seem to forget is that this country’s (USA) freedom from tyranny is what allows industries such as “entertainment” to flourish. Freedom also allows Americans as individuals to have the choices to buy tickets to see entertainers or buy their band’s recordings, etc. All of that having been said, I do understand that this very same freedom also gives these entertainers and mainstream media-outlets the “freedom-of-speech” to voice their opinions, and I think that is fair and great! However, I suppose what bothers me is the blatant hypocricy! š® I should also add that there are definitely hypocrites on both sides of the “political-fence.” š Anyone who doesn’t believe that is a close-minded fundamentalist! Arrrgggh!
Anyways, sorry to rant! š® I’ll try to keep politics & religion out of the threads here in general, and instead focus on the music & guitar! My bad! I guess I just wanted to make clear that I think the efforts of those in the military go WAY UNDER-APPRECIATED! Therefore, I thank you so much for your service to our country! š
Sincerely,
~Bill Meehan~ š
Wow lol. Well thanks for the welcome and appreciation Bill & Sean. Also, thanks for all the info Bill ^^. I was going somewhere with that military thing…didn’t mean to just list my occupation anyways going to take full advantage of 6months unemployment and having no bills and really try to advance on the guitar. Thanks again Bill & Sean.
Hey Will!
It’s a pleasure man!! Glad you’ve joined us here at IG, great to have you here man!
Rick
