    Hey Guys,

Thought I’d start a thread so we can share our reading lists!

I’m currently reading The Associate by John Grisham. I enjoy all of Grisham’s legal thrillers and this one is as good as it gets. I’m purposely reading it slow, cause I don’t want it to end! 😀

    Cheers!
    Rohan

    Nineteen Minutes by Jodi Picoult.
It’s about a bullied boy who ends up going on a shooting spree when the bullying sends him over the top and the repercussions of the incident regarding people involved in the incident.

Why Evolution Is True – Jerry Coyne.
Fascinating book so far. I’d thoroughly recommend it to anybody who has any interest in how life (and therefore we) came to be as it is now.

    Quirkology – Dr Richard Wiseman.
A book about the psychology of everyday life. basically about how our minds are easily fooled and why our intuitions are just plain wrong much of the time. Again, fascinating.

The Magicians’ Guild – Trudi Canavan.
Book 1 of a a fantasy trilogy. Fun stuff.

When I do find time to read, it’s usually between two of the most important books in the world: the Bible, and Calvin and Hobbes. 😀

I use audio books from Audible.com. Throw them on my iPod and away I go.
So driving time becomes learning / reading time. Its a great way to keep up on books of interest. Typically knock out 2 books a month and have completed over 300 thus far.

Just finished and was extremely impressed with the following books:
The Talent Code: Greatness Isn’t Born. It’s Grown. by Daniel Coyle / Someone on this site first recommended it. Teachers, managers and parents should check this out.

The Housing Boom and Bust by Thomas Sowell / An eye opening account into the major contributing factors to the current financial debacle here in the US. These reasons are often never cited by politicians or pundits.

Born to Run: A Hidden Tribe, Superathletes, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen by Christopher McDougall. / This book is absolutely fascinating and you do not have to be a runner to appreciate it. Just look at the reviews on Amazon. The Audio version was masterfully narrated and kept me sitting in my car listening even after I arrived at my destination. It’s really that good.

JeanDo – Dump your girlfriend! :p

Enrico, I have to disagree, man. Audio can never replace books. A real good book will make you read a paragraph and rewind back to the start so you can digest it through. There’s something much more convincing about the written word rather than the spoken word. Having said that, I have never tried audio books, I’ll give it a try 🙂

I’m also desperate to check out Amazon’s Kindle. Any reviews here?

    Good idea Rohan! 😀 Poor girl!You know what?She reads a lot,every night,while I m practicing guitar! 😀

Just finished reading The Associate. Its not all that great. If you’re a Grisham fan, you would read it I guess.

Currently reading Dean Koontz’s Your Heart belongs to Me. Its about a 34 year old guy in perfect health who suffers a heart attack and undergoes a heart transplant. And then his troubles really start. Scary stuff! I’ve just finished a few chapters, its nothing compared to his earlier works. I’ll try a bit more and most probably will be skipping this book. 😀

I have to recommend, ‘Pillars of the Earth’, by Ken Follett. I read it last year, but it still is one of the best books I’ve ever read. I have hundreds of books at home, and this one ranks in the top five.
I’m not good at reviewing a book, I can’t find the words, but this book basically is set in medieval times, and tells an incredible story.
If you like horror/science fiction, I highly recommend Brian Lumleys’ Necroscope series. Talk about incredible vampire stuff. Lumleys vampires make Dracula look like a choir boy.

I’m currently reading Gödel, Escher, Bach: An Eternal Golden Braid by Douglas Hofstadter. I’m midway through and its a very exciting and eye-opening book. Its one of those “can’t get sleep” books for me just like The Selfish Gene by Richard Dawkins was. Another classic there!

GEB is mainly about consciousness and intelligence, and the author makes use of the three characters Godel, Escher and Bach by studying their works and explaining stuff 😀

Its of particular interest cause it has lots of music. For example, I learnt what is a canon, fugue, intervallic augmentation. Lots of gems in here! Also, the letters BACH actually spell out a musical phrase, and Bach has used this phrase in some tunes too. The book has generous pictures of Escher’s work too. What an artist!

Definitely recommended. Its quite light and has good humour too.
