In this tutorial, I'm going to show you how to use only two chords to build your sense of "Pocket" playing, i.e. Rhythmic awareness. We're going to discuss how to go about maximizing your strumming technique for various strumming patterns you may encounter throughout your further guitar study.
Rhythmic Strumming
Let's look at some do's and don'ts of strumming:
1. Let's not force any rhythm on the upstroke or downstroke. Keeping a steady eighth note pattern with some emphasis on the downstroke is key. After you've "submitted" yourself to this way of strumming you can then...
2. Choose which strokes land based on the rhythm provided. I will outline every rhythm in the next 5 demonstrations with tablature to show you how you should execute this specifically.
3. Relax the right hand (stumming hand) and play from the wrist!
