    Hey Guys, šŸ™‚

Dime was AWESOME! When I saw the link to Dime performing at one of his clinics, I just had to chime-in (LOL!) I was fortunate enough to catch Pantera in concert back in (approximately) 2000 – while they were touring their Reinventing The Steel CD. Although the mix was painfully loud that night, (ouch!) it was still a excellent onslaught of Metal Madness! Dime was in “top form” throughout! šŸ˜‰

Ya know, I’ve always been of the opinion that Dime’s style and skill-set have always been mis-analyzed/misunderstood in much the same way that Edward Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix’s styles were mistaken!!! For example, I think most guitarists envision Jimi Hendrix’s guitar style as “wah-drenched” blues-on-steroids chock-full of rapid-fire pentatonic licks, right?!? Well, Jimi did deliver those goods! However, he also caressed some beautiful & tender R&B chord-embellished moments as well (think “The Wind Cries Mary,” “Little Wing,” “Bold As Love,” “Angel,” etc.) Also, EVH’s style was generalized as that TAPPING stuff! What some failed to realize was Ed’s funky sense of rhythm and somewhat “Fragmented” chordal-style (not really influenced by Hendrix ironically, but still similar in their unique fragmented rhythm approach nonetheless!) So with Dime, I think perhaps that some guitar-fans might have overlooked just what a complete “Rock/Metal” guitarist Dime really was! I mean he was a NASTY rhythm player. He and brother on drums Vinnie Paul (…hmmm…there’s a VH similarity – younger-bro on guitar w/older-bro on Drums!!!) formed a tight Metal-Machine! The way I see it, Dime had the best of both worlds, in that he could bring the “Hetfield-approved staccato riffage,” but then bust out a “Vai/EVH-approved legato rock/metal lead!” AWESOME! Dime also was VERY creative in his writing/creating new heavy/riffy ideas. I also always admired Dime’s courage to claim “thumbs-down” on tube-amps!!! While most guitarists blindly (or educatedly!) worship tube-amps! Dime had a vision of his own sound that he manufactured, regardless of the status-quo’s opinions! šŸ˜Ž

I miss Dime. He was special! šŸ™
