Though in a way, I DO understand and agree in part with Marcin here, as I think his underlying point was that the musician’s “music” is his form of entertainment, NOT his outward “ENTERTAINING!” 😎

Hi Marcin, 🙂
Before I get lumped in with “guys missing the point,” please consider the “concession” to your point/argument that I stated above (in italics.) I realized your point, but you presented this point as a “cold fact,” and it is NOT that “black & white!” (If it were so definite, the word entertainer would be used in the definition of musician, and it is NOT! 😉 By your definition (where the musician just plays music,) then the music itself actually becomes the entertainment!
Ultimately though, you are correct about the fact that professional musicians (those hired to perform for people’s enjoyments and recreation) are essentially entertainers!
Agreed. 😎 It’s just that, to lump all musicians together as entertainers sort of implies that they all provide similar levels of “shomanship.” So maybe the correct term to discuss here is showman, as opposed to entertainer. Otherwise, the implication that someone like David Lee Roth (Van Halen) and say some one like Geoff Tate (Queensryche) are similar entertainers because they are both musicians (as singers in rock bands) would be grossly inaccurate! 😮 Just IMO! Maybe they ARE both entertainers with vastly different levels of showmanship! Uhh Oh!!! Semantics again! (LOL!)
