    Hey Guys, ๐Ÿ™‚

I know I’ve yet to post any videos, yet I’ve had PLENTY TO SAY! (LOL!)

Therefore, I’ve decided to share a live video-shoot I did with my Tool-tribute band (called ToolFist) of the great Tool song “Eulogy.” ๐Ÿ˜‰

For those who don’t know much or anything about Tool, they are a “prog-rock” band from L.A.- California – U.S.A. and they’ve been together for 18 years. In 18-years, they’ve only released 5 LP’s!!! They really take their time, and they all indulge in various side-projects (the most famous of which is surely the singer Maynard James Keenan’s band “A Perfect Circle,” who’ve enjoyed some A.O.R. (Album-Oriented-Rock) success. Tool’s music is highlighted by predominantly Dropped-“D” Tuned guitar & bass riffs, rampant use of odd-time-signatures and polyrhythms (especially their last two LP’s “Lateralus” and “10,000 Days.”) and OUTSTANDING drumming! (Danny Carey is the BEST prog-rock-drummer I’ve ever seen live!) Tools songs are also known for there heady yet disturbing lyrics which have a way of “sticking a mirror in the face of humanity!” as Keenan once put it! There are hardly any traditional “guitar-solos” (played by guitarist Adam Jones) per se, but I really enjoy the challenge of performing tight intricate rhythms (with polyrhythms!) lots of soundscape/effects usage, and lots of overtone/feedback notes!!! (I love that!) We have a good time embracing the challenges of Tool’s music. ๐Ÿ˜‰

This live-video was shot in September 2007, so it isn’t new! I really believe that as a band, we (ToolFist) are a MUCH tighter-unit now. (Also, for whatever it’s worth, I’ve lost about 45 lbs. since this was recorded, but that crap’s NOT important anyways, right?) (LOL!) ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

    Here it is:

Check out my 2007 Gibson Silverburst Les Paul Classic-Custom (only 400 made – Gibson “guitar of the week” in week 16 – 2007!)

I plan on recording some Infinite Guitar tutorial mterial soon (as soon as I can get a few “up-to-tempo!” (LOL!) Darn, these IG Instructors are good, aren’t they!) When I’m ready to record, I’ll surely keep y’all posted. I’ll probably perform my IG material with my NEW Black – Ibanez RG-1570!!! I love it, and it’s built for “shred!” ๐Ÿ˜‰

Let me know what you think, and remember, it’s a tribute band, so I really can’t take liberties and busting out solos whenever I want, OK?!?

    Hey Bill ๐Ÿ™‚

GREAT work on the song. I believe as a tribute band you guys wanted to emulate the band – as they play. Actually I believe you sound more Tool – ish then Tool themselves (lol is that a compliment?) though I think the singer was a bit off tune in the first part (the one with effect on it through first 2 minutes or so). And dude, you have a sick drummer! Danny Carey is so talentful and his technique and timing are outstanding – and your drummer played exactly the same! However Iยดve had a feelling the song was played slightly slower then Tool played it.

Anyway I enjoyed this cover greatly. You guys surely worked hard for this one and it payed off greatly. Great job.

Looking forward to your IG material vids! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Hey Marcin, ๐Ÿ™‚

I really appreciate your feedback! I agree about our drummer (Gregg – also one of my best friends, we’ve known each other for 37 years literally!) and I agree about the vocals in the Intro especially! However, I gotta disagree regarding the tempo! The entire intro is “dead-nuts” ON-TEMPO at 82.5 BPM, and then when the whole band kicks in heavy, we pick up a few BPM’s and play the remainder of the song at 85-88 BPM, which if anything is a tad “quicker” than Tool did (on the “Aenema” LP anyways, maybe not live…)We defer to the studio versions for our tempos, and we’re EXTREMELY psrticular about adhering to them! Tool definitely does NOT use click-tracks on their recordings, as we’ve clocked their stuff and their tempos definitely “breath” quite a bit at times. You might be surprised how much their tempos do actually “breath!” ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Thanks & TTYS! ๐Ÿ˜€

Wow! Bill, your band is awesome man. Really quality cover and you all nailed the Tool sound pretty much to a T. Like Rick said it’s great to see you play too! That video had excellent quality as well.

Thanks a ton for sharing that!

    Hey Sean! ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks man! I really do appreciate it! I know how much you dig the “Dropped-D” stuff (as is evidenced by “Eluding The Mastermind” and “Turbulence” (amongst others!) so I really was hoping you’d have a minute (or nine (9) (lol!) to check out our video! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Thanks Sean. I’m somewhat proud of my efforts here in an ensemble context (fancy-speak for band, right?!?) However, I’m really looking forward to the challenges presented by the IG tutorials I plan on recording! Wish me luck bro! I still need a few more weeks and a few more BPM’s, so stay-tuned!!! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

    Hey Bill, fantastic playing here!
I really enjoyed that. Without a doubt the tightest tool cover band I’ve heard. Each one of you is very skilled and evidently you collaborate very well with each other.
    Looking forward to hearing more!
    keep up the good work

    Hey Ben, ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks a lot man! That really means a lot from a guy like you who can really play! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

I mean that! You’ve got a lot of the shred-chops that I aspire to, and you’re also tasteful (melodies & pacing) as well, so it’s NOT just fast for “FAST-SAKE!” (lol!) Know what I mean? So thanks again! I’m really anticipating (and working towards) recording some clips of me playing some “lead-oriented” tutorial stuff from here at IG, to give myself some “metronome/shred-challenges” that the Tool stuff just doesn’t contain! Wish me luck. I still have a few BPM’s to conquer before I can proudly record & post! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I’ll sure let everyone know once I do it! ๐Ÿ˜Ž

    I love this site! ๐Ÿ˜‰
