Now, we're basically taking the exact rhythm from the previous riff, and adding more funk flavor to it.
First thing to do is make sure you're comfortable playing the E minor bar chord on the 7th fret. Make sure you can get all the notes sounding really crisp.
One thing to note...in the video, notice how my strumming hand doesn't stop? This is good for 2 reasons...(1) it helps me keep proper timing, and (2) it helps add in subtle percussive sounds on the strings. So be sure to keep the strumming motion going the whole time.
Also, be sure to notice how the notes on the 9th and 10th fret E string are sixteenth notes. So they are short and somewhat staccato sounding.
