Lick 3 is a little more "mixed up" as far as pick directions are concerned. Much like lick 1, we begin with alternate picking but are soon met with an ascending Dmaj7 arpeggio from the A to G strings. The most effective method of practicing this lick, is to play through the first measure up to the first time we pick the 14th fret of the G string. Not biting off more than you can chew is key in maintaining a solid rhythm throughout. Visualizing the lick in smaller sections will help keep you on track and really understand where we are in the measure, rhythmically.
